West Lodge

I stayed here last year and had a really good experience, so I booked again for this year. Josie and Ian are fabulous hosts, so friendly and accommodating if you need any extras for the room (I needed a fan which was provided). The room was spotless and comfortable, with a kettle and supply of tea, coffee, water, etc. The B&B is in a quiet area and set back from the action, but still within a reasonable distance from the waterfront, Lord Street, and bus stops. Breakfast is lovely; fresh and tasty, and ranges from cereals, mixed fruit, small pastries, and yoghurt to small/larger cooked breakfasts. I've had the single room on both occasions so far. However, I may be returning to revisit family next year and will bring my fiancé, so will hopefully get to try the double room!

It was not a massive deal breaker, and this didn't affect the enjoyment of my stay, but I found that the internet connection in the room I was staying to be slightly awkward. I had to be in a certain part of the room to 'catch' the signal, but once it connected, it was stable until I left to go out - guessing it may just be the distance from the router, etc.

Perfect location for us, only about a 10 minute walk to the town and nice quiet street. Very welcoming, clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast. We had 2 cars in our party and were both able to park on site but the road outside is wide and unrestricted so could easily have found a space if not. I would definitely recommend.
