Are you searching for a vacation home to get really excited about? Welcome to Flying Toucans where the sights and sounds of wildlife, open-air indoor/outdoor tropical living and unforgettable views have all been captured in one special place.
Enjoy reading our guests reviews about this luxurious Costa Rican Villa situated on a unique, picturesque point on the southern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. With lots of surrounding tropical landscaping, you'll have exclusive privacy to enjoy your home in peace...with the exception of some chatty visitors. Yes, the monkeys and the toucans call out to you at any time without first introducing themselves.
Location, Location, Location!
Superbly located in Costa Rica's exclusive Maritime Zone (situated within 200 meters of the shoreline), Flying Toucans is one of the very few luxury home rentals in the area that is on the ocean side of the main coastal road. This unique location affords up close breathtaking views of jungle-clad mountains, sandy beaches, and the tranquil Pacific Ocean with quick, level, convenient 2wd access all year long. If you like beaches, you are in luck as we have an abundance nearby. From the villa, take a hike down to the point and discover two secluded beaches (one with its own 35' waterfall) or jump in your car and within five minutes be exploring miles of uncrowded footstep-free sandy beaches.
The living and dining rooms offer the romance of open-air tropical living, blending the comforts of home with the nearness of wildlife. The living room or kitchen are great central locations to gather and enjoy all that Flying Toucans has to offer. Plenty of seating for everyone. Don't be surprised at the abundant hummingbird and butterfly population.
The large fully-equipped kitchen, with its' beautiful custom cabinetry, and casual eating area is integrated with the living room, pool and views beyond. Whip up a smoothie or a six course meal...your choice.
Did we mention the pool? Once in, you'll never get out of this infinity-edge pool. Just three steps from the villa, the turquoise tile blends into the dazzling coastline and the popular Uvita 'Whale's Tail', a unique place to walk and explore. It overlooks Ballena (which means 'whale') beach National Marine Park so keep your eyes open for Humpback whales and Bottle-Nosed dolphins in the bay during whale season.
There is a half bath downstairs, outdoor shower as well as laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer.
Two well-furnished air-conditioned master suites are located upstairs, all enclosed. (King bed in one, Queen and Double in other). Each of the suites incorporates the use of local precious hardwoods for the doors, cabinets and vaulted ceilings. Relax in the comfort of air conditioning or open the windows and let the ocean breezes in. Too comfortable to get out of bed? Fine, enjoy the views from your pillow!... now if you could just get someone to bring you breakfast...hmmmm.
Spacious bathrooms feature tumbled Colombian limestone showers and an openness that continues to let the outdoors in while providing all the privacy needed.
You will also love taking advantage of the spacious terrace upstairs. It's perfect for wildlife viewing, whale watching, stargazing, photography, sunrises and sunsets, or just dozing off in the comfy hammock. Surrounding the villa are exotic heliconias, a variety of fragrant gingers, exotic palms, birds-of-paradise, fruit trees etc... not only for your enjoyment but to attract our fine feathered friends. Discover a tropical fruit you've never tasted before or sniff a flowery scent like Chanel #5 from the Ylang Ylang trees. Where is it coming from?

Amazing rental house! It was perfect for our couples trip!

Honestly I can’t say enough great things about this house. First, the house and pool were super clean and we saw so much wildlife: white faced capuchins (jumping on the roof no less), howler monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws, coati’s, agouti’s, and lots of other birds. The hike down to the beach was awesome too. Be warned it’s slightly steep and slick due to leaves in parts, but we did it with a 4 year old. Use the walking sticks (should be some by the front door)! The payoff at the end was amazing, saw lots of hermit crabs and beautiful rocky beach area. The open air kitchen (which can be closed at night don’t worry) and outdoor seating area was amazing. You really feel you’re living outdoors almost. Quite literally paradise. The house is super private, super quiet, amazing views, close to Uvita and Dominical for dining. Be sure to visit Hacienda Baru for a wildlife tour while you’re here. We had a great time doing the zipline tour/nature walk there.

Exceptional !!!! The flying toucan is exactly what me and my wife were looking for. This vacation hit every expectations and then some. This property is absolutely beautiful, very very private , safe , super clean , and accessible to many restaurants and attractions. To be honest , we actually spent more time at the property in the pool enjoying the beautiful views, then going out and about. It’s fun anticipating the arrival of the local wildlife that shows up randomly. Such a great experience with that part of it. We saw 2 different types of monkeys , toucans , we did not get to see a sloth , but they are around from what we were told. Overall we highly recommend this spot , we are already planning a trip back for next year.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The indoor - outdoor set up for the kitchen was exactly what we didn't know we wanted. We loved enjoying the sights, sounds, smells (one tree was in bloom and had a lovely faint floral sent as you walked by) and all the wildlife! Howlers, capuchins, toucans, coatis and tons of beautiful birds. The views are divine and although we weren't in the right season for sun views of the sunrise and sunset, they were still breathtaking. And coffee on the balcony - perfect way to start each day. We had no idea we would enjoy the kitchen so much and grabbed tuna from a local fish market on a whim and it ended up being one of the best fish dishes we've ever had. The ability to open the windows during showering was a fun experience and the A/C in the bedrooms was nice after hot days at the beach. John was incredibly informative, responsive and gave us some great recommendations. Book this place, you won't regret it! (As you've seen from all the other reviews, and they're not lying!) We would absolutely come back again and will recommend to anyone who's on a Costa Rican holiday!
