About this cottage rental

Come to call the beach home for a while! This charming south west San Clemente historic beach cottage was built by the town's founding father in 1931 in the Mediterranean Revival style, lovingly restored, and is located in the heart of the Village by the Sea. It has 2 bedrooms and sleeps 6 with an additional nursery off the master. Hardwood floors & french doors are found throughout. The master bedroom features a wooden sleigh bed and ample storage. The second bedroom features a custom built double over double tree house bunk, plenty of storage and a selection of books (natural/wooden toys available upon request for young ones). The bath has a slate stone surround & a spa water feature to make your holiday even more relaxing. The kitchen and pantry are stocked for your convenience and houses the original vintage gas stove. A welcoming array of delectable treats will greet you upon arrival. A secluded private front yard with a mature coastal pine shade tree features a stone water fountain, privacy hedge, outdoor chandelier lighting and a wood & wicker furnished portico. Beach sundries are also available (towels, umbrella, boogie boards or sand toys) upon request. From the cottage one may walk EVERYWHERE, including the beach, pier, T-street surfing, grocers, coffeehouses, art galleries, wine bars and the village's many downtown dining & shopping venues. Conveniently located west of Pacific Coast Highway, the cottage affords easy access for day trips north or south along the California coastline.

There is something for everyone here! For the kids, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, Long Beach Aquarium, Discovery Science Center, San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park, Seaworld and Legoland are all under 1 hour's drive. For the horticulturalist, choose among The Huntington, Descanso Gardens, Fullerton Arboretum, San Diego Botanics, Sherman Library & Gardens, South Coast Arboretum, The Japanese Friendship Gardens, The Vista Butterfly Farms & many more. For the golf enthusiast, play one of the 10 local courses all within a 10 mile radius, or play 18 holes down the road at world famous La Costa or Torrey Pines. For the surf seeker, be sure to catch epic rides at all of San Clemente's renown breaks, including San Onofre, Old Mans, Trails & Trestles or try a morning up at Huntington Beach. For the general outdoor adventurer, mountain biking & hiking in the adjacent Santa Ana Mountains & Laguna Canyons, along with beach combing & tide pool explorations at Crystal Cove and all up & down our Pacific coast are unparalleled. For the sailor & fisherman, rent any variety of ocean going vessel from kayaks & stand up paddle boards to duffys & sail/motor boats for personal exploration from Dana Point Harbor, hop on any number of charter boats for deep sea fishing, whale watching, visiting Catalina Island, or simply take your pole down to the pier for a quiet evening of casting (we have one available for those who would like to try). For the art & history connoisseur, downtown hosts a variety of rotating exhibits, Laguna Beach is home to Pageant of the Masters & the Summer Sawdust Festival, next door's San Juan Capistrano Mission is not to be missed and the museums that line the Promenade of Balboa Park provide days of endless exploration & appreciation. An expansive range of multi-cultural delicious eateries, from family owned fish taco shacks to 5 star zagat-rated restaurants, are right outside the cottage door and provide a plethora of dining options that are well paired with an evening village or beach path stroll. San Clemente also has over 10 different Parks/Recreation venues with ample opportunities for picnicking, free tennis courts, and a new aquatics center with over 20 lap lanes and even a water park for the children. Take a leisurely drive up & down Pacific Coast Highway to watch the waves break or take a scenic winding tour through the mountains under the live oaks along Ortega & Santiago Canyon. If you prefer to leave your vehicle behind (something that is quite easily done here at the cottage), there is a bus stop at the top of the street, the train stops next to the pier, and taxis/airport shuttles are easily arranged (John Wayne/Orange County International Airport is less than 30 minutes away, while LAX and San Diego International are both 1 hour away, north & south respectively). Everything you need to build fond holiday memories awaits you in this charming cottage in a village by the sea...
