Fantastic stay at the Gatsby

Lovely family run hotel. Large spacious bedroom & very peaceful. The bed & pillows were the comfiest I’ve ever slept on. The breakfast was abundant & fantastic, freshly cooked eggs/ bacon etc. Delicious bread & pastries & even slabs of fresh chocolate to devour. Looking forward to returning here again when we next visit Belgium 😊

False Accusation, No Respect & a “No Visitor” Mystery Rule

The hotel appears luxurious but is actually old and only partially renovated. If you compare it to other 4-star hotels around the world in terms of service, you’ll likely be disappointed

If you’re looking for peace of mind, fair treatment, and basic respect — do not stay at Gatsby Hotel. Especially if you’re not European, think twice. You may not be treated the same. After checkout, we received a message from the hotel claiming that they had contacted the police due to alleged damage in the room.The alleged damage was a small mark on a tile that had clearly been previously filled with cement, making it obvious it was not caused during our stay and had nothing to do with us. In reality, we were the ones who called the police to defend our name. The officers came, inspected everything, found no damage, and closed the case. Despite that, the hotel still charged us €850 (with no valid proof) The whole thing was stressful, humiliating, and ruined our travel plans. Also, be warned about the hotel’s hidden “no visitors in your room” rule. I briefly had a visitor, not an overnight guest, and were treated like we’d committed a crime. It’s not written anywhere, but even someone stepping in for a moment can cause chaos. Apparently, tiles are more welcome than people. Overpriced, stressful, and not guest-friendly, especially if you're not local. Avoid.

The decoration of the hotel in Art Deco mode was a success. Everything was decorated with taste Room was comfortable, and breakfast very good. 5 minute walk to the beach.

Lovely hotel in a convenient location

Extremely comfy bed, superb breakfast, convenient location. There were lots of thoughtful touches, including a kettle as well as a coffee maker. The hotel was an easy 5 to 10 minute walk from Blankenberge Station, the trams, the shops and the beach.

Only a minor point but we found the light switch system complicated

Marvelous stay close to he beach at the Gatsby Hotel in Blankenberge!

Upon arrival, restaurants in the neighborhood were fully booked that evening. The hotel recommended a very nice Thai take away and prepared a table for two in their breakfast corner. We had a very nice dinner that evening in the hotel! Furthermore, the hotel had also a charging station for electric cars available on their private parking places which was very convenient for us. The hotel was located perfectly, just a few hundred meters from the beach allowing us to enjoy a walk on the dike without being disturbed by the crowd and also close to the main shopping street of Blankenberge. Staff was very friendly and breakfast excellent!

Some street works were going on in the neighborhood (out of control of the hotel) making these parts less good accessible and a bit dusty.

Disappointing

The staff was not so friendly. Knocked the door before check out 25min. The cleaning lady told us we booked for one but came with two while we booked for two. Didn’t apologise at all and when we complain it at the lobby they complain us back instead of apologise at the first place

The Gatsby Hotel is really top.

A very nice hotel. We only stayed for 1 night. The man at the hotel reception was very kind and helpful. We arrived far too early, but he put our luggage in a safe place. When we returned to the hotel later that day he brought our luggage to our big room and briefly explained how everything works. It was a very nice clean room with a separate walk-in shower, a bathroom with a modern bath, a wash basin and toilet. Our bed was really great. We both slept really well. There was also coffee and tea available in the room. The breakfast: buffet: scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, beans, sausages, next to the usual things you may expect. Cheese and different kinds of cold meat was available on each table (what seems to me a bit of waste of meat). Fresh orange juice and Cava was brought to the table. I can't think of any negative to write. It was top.
