Villa Margaridi

The spa villa is very spacious, clean , and comfortable. Bed and pillows were great! Hot tub was a huge hit, especially after a long day exploring nearby villages and Gerês Park. The property itself is very beautiful, historic, yet modern! Can’t say enough good things about the owner José and his assistant! Always attentive, checking in, and made our visit extra special with surprise drinks every evening - and arranging the BEST tables at the BEST local restaurants for us!

Beautiful place and José was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble

What did we like? Everything. We traded multiple messages with the owner (Jose) before our arrival, and he met us in person to show us to our apartment and explained the unique history of the property. Every day during our visit either he or someone else made an effort to check in on us and offer us an evening Port Wine. The apartment was well-outfitted with a living room, dining room, three bedrooms and three and half bathrooms, with a secluded outside patio. Ample food was provided for breakfast, including fresh bread every day. Guimarães castle and city center are easily walkable, as are grocery stores, but driving is also convenient if walking isn't your thing.

There was no way humanly possible to eat all of the bread that was delivered every day. We ended up with enough extra that it was able to feed me for the four day return journey!! The only other negative was that two of the three bedrooms had only single beds rather than a double beds for couples. If you are booking the apartments with multiple couples, recommend letting them know ahead of time to see if they can "join" the beds.
