About this cottage rental
Having undergone a major renovation in 2016, the cottage is extremely comfortable, filled with antiques and sumptuous soft-furnishings. The accommodation comprises a cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove, shelves stuffed with books and games, a flat screen 'Smart' television, DVD player and DVDs, and a Bose iPod dock with iPhone adapter. The kitchen is large, with dining and sitting areas. There is an Aga which is lit in the colder months, electric fan oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and a washing machine and tumble drier in a small, separate utility area. There is wifi access, and a desk situated in the hall, with ample workspace for a laptop, and a wireless printer provided. The downstairs bathroom has bath, electric shower, washbasin, WC, shaverpoint and heated towel rail. The small staircase leads to the first floor where there are two double bedrooms and one twin. There are two super-kingsized beds and two singles; but all the deep, pocket-sprung mattresses are zip-and-link and so may be split or combined as required. The two larger bedrooms have built in wardrobes, while the smaller twin room has a hanging rail and generous drawer space. Also upstairs is a WC, with washbasin and shaver point.
Outside there is a good-sized, fenced and dog-proof garden, with plenty of lawn area and a terrace with large dining table and chairs. A lockable shed provides safe storage for sports equipment. The cricket pitch at the rear of the garden can be accessed, which in turn leads to tennis courts and a children's play area. The local pub is a couple of minutes' walk away, while the Island's pub of the year in nearby Shalfleet is just a five minute drive.
The cottage is perfect for summer holidays due to its proximity to the coast and the many attractions the Island offers, but also is fully heated and cosy enough for autumn and winter breaks when one can curl up with a good book in front of the wood-burner, or go for bracing walks on Tennyson Down followed by a delicious pub lunch, when the crowds have left. We are pet friendly and welcome one or two small, well-behaved dogs for an extra charge of £25.00 per dog.
