Caterina apartment

Super excellent location. Great to wake up each morning with a direct view of the Piazza Della Signoria. Great to have 2 bathrooms, one of which has a bath. We liked being relatively close to both the Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Duomo. It was easy to find ourselves on either side of the Arno river depending on what we were doing. For a first trip to Florence it's a great location. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes etc. Donatella was the person managing the apartment and our check-in etc etc. She was very good and helpful and we needed a few extra hours for our check-out and, in our case, she was able to arrange it which was really great for us. We used the washing machine which was helpful. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

It can be noisy at night as there is a bar and/or foot traffic in the street below the bedroom. The noise is not constant but ebbs and flows and can be annoying. Earplugs help but not perfect as it can get loud with people talking. Depends on how lightly you sleep. I normally really hate that, but in this case, we were tired enough from our daily activities that at night that we were going to get some sleep no matter what. So the trade-off for location and view of the piazza was worth it IMHO and I won't don't deduct from the rating because I think this is the deal, probably no matter where you stay, if you want location, location, and location. The building has a lot of charm and there are some stairs to walk and the elevator is an old style that takes some effort to open and close its doors. Again, to get that charm, that's part of the deal. So no deduction from us, but if you have trouble getting up and down some stairs just be aware. The apartment has a small convection oven and NOT a microwave (if that feature is important to you).

Loved the location and decor

Extremely loud and impossible to sleep. Out of the control of the owner but still very disruptive. Screaming tourists all night long.
