Sicily Mon Amour Ortigia

The apartment had everything you could want, the location was great close to everything and the hosts were most helpful and communication was first class, highly recommend!

Nothing to dislike

Very nice apartment right in the center of Ortigia but still very quiet. Comfortable beds to sleep. Responsive host. Excellent place.

Everything was perfect. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The location was perfect - in the heart of Ortigia but on a quiet street. There are lovely restaurants and bars at the end of the street including DaDa for fabulous cocktails and Evoe for superb Sicilian wine. The apartment had everything we needed - comfy bed and sofa and good dining space. It was amazing value for money. Giusy (the owner) was a joy to communicate with and sent helpful restaurant recommendations. Max, who we met, was super welcoming and helpful. He was always available on WhatsApp and made it a stress free stay. Finally, we loved Ortigia and hope to return.

- The host, Giusy, is extremely helpful and pro-active. Guisy reached out to us even before we travelled to make sure we know everything we need to find the place. She also made sure we know where we can buy some groceries or find a nice restaurant for dinner. - The place is well-equipped (kitchen, fridge, dishes, etc.) - The location is perfect for those who want to experience the old city: it's in a very authentic little yard in the middle of the town just off a narrow street. - There was a washing machine that we used (though we had to dry the laundry at a nearby launderette).

Firstly, I should mention that we travelled off-season so the criticism might be less applicable when it comes to the summer. - The place is quite damp and the cupboards have the characteristic damp wood smell. Unfortunately the smell spreads around the whole place. Although the air conditioner is set to the heating mode and does indeed warm the place up a bit, it is definitely not enough to get rid of the dampness (again, only natural for a sea-side place). - The place doesn't have a separate area to have your meals in after children go to bed (only relevant for parents travelling with children, I suppose). But this is quite clear from the listing and the pictures.
