Nice hotel, nice town.
Lovely chap checked us in and made us feel very welcome and gave us all the info we needed for local food and drink. The hotel’s quite ‘retro’, it made a very pleasant change from formulaic modern hotels. There’s a very nice bar next door.

Good value for money but lacks hotel security.
great location next to station, opposite patisserie and only a short walk to the town. free safe parking at the station just a few minutes walk from the hotel. comfortable bed, ample storage in the room and a fan provided for hot days . friendly and welcoming staff.
A lot of the electrics slowly stopped working in our room, we ended up with only one bedside lamp working to light the bedroom. During certain hours of the day the reception is shut, they leave the room key and guest information on the desk for guests to take themselves, but anyone could take these. There also seemed to be no staff on site throughout the night which for me was a security and health and safety concern especially if there were an emergency present.

Friendly and helpful staff, huge rooms, kettle in the room for tea and coffee. Close to station.
I prefer the quiet rooms at the back.

Excellent breakfast, handy for station, good restaurant nearby.
Shower was hand held above bath - not good for older guests. A proper conventional shower would have been better. Beds were hard but acceptable. Shallow step up into room needs better marking to avoid trip hazard.
