Hertford Barn conversion

The location and the privacy were fantastic just as it was during our first visit. My wife was even able to make scones with the dog late one night to beat the heat inside the barn. Having a water filter was a lifesaver as we go through a lot of water. Being close to a convenient store was amazing as the mega stores are much further away (for those who don't drive) Having a full kitchen and utensils to use to cook for ourselves truly makes it feel like a home away from home with all of the cooking we did. The washer/dryer was useful for keeping our clothes ready for the length of our stay. The Dyson fan was a game-changer for sure!

There was a foul odor coming from the shower drain during our second week. We noticed after taking a shower that the drain wasn't emptying fully. Luckily there were cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink so I was able to clean out the drain and bleach it to mitigate the smell at least every few days. We acknowledge that the hosts cannot control the weather, however, during our second week we dealt with uncomfortable hot temperatures and were unable to alleviate ourselves from the uncomfortable heat as there was no option for a cold temperature in the shower(but we could still get cold water from the sinks) We did have to leave for one afternoon and wait for the evening as it was just too unbearable and stayed with my wife's parents for the day to beat the heat. During our first stay here back in December of 2024 and January of 2025 we hadn't noticed these issues as it was during a colder winter, the hotter shower temperatures were welcome, bathrooms were well kept, and the host was quick to respond.

Modern and comfortable. The layout was well thought out with enough space for luggage’s, eating and lounging area. Nestled and secluded away despite it being on someone’s property, beautiful grounds and surrounded by nature.

We had a lovely weekend stay in this well appointed apartment. Very clean and had everything we required. Location was great for our visit to relatives in the area.

The accommodation itself was good, it was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Viv was also very responsive with messages.

We were unfortunately woken at around 6:30am by a loud radio coming from beneath us. We went to investigate and discovered there is a private gym directly underneath the accommodation (the downstairs of the barn), which there is no mention of when booking. We politely asked if the music could be turned down, and although it was switched off, there was no acknowledgement or apology from the person, and there was still loud talking, laughing, and gym noise for over an hour after that. Viv apologised afterwards and reassured us that it wouldn't happen again so early the following day. However, we would have preferred to know there would be loud noises below, as one of the main reasons we booked it was as it's in a peaceful private setting. Had we known there was a gym directly underneath the accommodation with noticeable noise transfer, we would not have booked.
