Absolutely amazing property and owners. It was our first time to Abergavenny and Alison came and talked to us about her favourite walking spots and food places close by. We loved our stay here especially because the hot tub was under a cover which is a real rare find AND a private enclosed garden for your pooches!! (this is only small but the owners did offer to use their own personal garden for our pooch which is so kind.)The property is not near any other houses or estates and is on its own plot of land so is really private. The owners do live next door but that is no bother as it’s so private. We ran into a couple of hiccups which we understand but Alison and Dean were so helpful and understanding and came out each time as soon as I texted her. We would definitely come back because it’s a gorgeous cottage with lovely walks nearby and food places and is so homely!
There was nothing that wasn’t to what we would expect and it was all amazing especially little decorations for Christmas time.

It was immaculately clean and welcoming and the fire was lit for us so when we arrived it was lovely and warm.
All the finishing touches and decor were amazing and we were welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco on ice and Welsh cakes.
Alison came and showed us how to use everything and was a fantastic host and made sure we had everything we needed.
Bed was super comfy and the showers were lovely the best place we have stayed and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend.
The hot tub was lovely and was a lovely extra to an already fantastic property.
There was nothing we disliked only the fact we had to come home !!

Great value for money. Very cosy, lots of space, 2 separate bathrooms and having hot tub and fireplace was lovely. Alison and Dean were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

This is a nice venue, I particularly liked the downstairs area. Unfortunately, although I saw the set up in the pictures, I didn't really get on with the sloping ceiling in the bedroom (I banged my head less each day but still didn't really get on with it). We had a small baby with us so we were up periodically in the night, which wouldn't be a problem for most visitors, I'm not sure how good the sound proofing was for the next door rooms (the other guest reviews will have to confirm that) - and not a problem but for our small child. The bathroom was very nicely set up, although I would have preferred a shower to the bath, again I saw the pictures and had opted to go with it, but in practice wasn't something I should have picked. The location was good, a quiet spot just outside the town. We went into Abergavenny to Il Gusto and Casa Bianca, both nice Italian Restaurants which we would go back to. We only got to Abergavenny in the evening on the first night, so didn't spot the car park parallel to the high street (there is a short cut through from the corner of the car park over the traffic lights through to the high street). Crickhowell is also nearby and was a nice town to visit. Mainly this is a walking / hiking area. The host, Alison, is lovely.
On reflection I'd suggest (1) some lights for the sign on the road - we were fine the first night when we arrived but did go past it the next time as it was dark (2) a larger waste bin in the kitchen (again, I appreciate the recycling, which I did as much as I could but after a couple of days the plastic tub for general waste and food was overflowing). I have mentioned the sloping ceiling (I knew about that, so my bad really). Also for the hot tub there is a £25 additional charge - I didn't see that in the details, although I can see it is in response to one of the questions on the site, we didn't use the hot tub but I'd make that extra charge clearer.

Location was amazing and the hosts were brilliant - Alison advised us of all local walking routes, the garden centre and some other bits we could do during our stay. She gave us instructions on the hot tub and we were met with a bottle of prosecco and snacks upon our arrival. Everything we needed to have an enjoyable holiday was available to us.

Pen-Y-Worlod is in a beautiful setting. The house has everything you need. Alison was very helpful. The location is excellent for walking into the village or walking up the steps and over the bridge to bring you out to a lovely forest walk which leads to the canal towpath.

Location was great. A very warm and helpful welcome. Cottage was lovely, with plenty of amenities and a lovely bottle of wine on arrival. Clean and tidy
The upstairs doesn't really suit people over 6ft but I suppose it's quirky. No proper shower cubicle so not ideal for people who don't like having a bath. Was not happy with a £25 charge for use of the hot tub which was only used for 1hour during our stay.

Easily accessed, the check in was very straightforward and the host was amazing. Everything you could need, and the host was always available if something was needed and was kind enough to show us how to use the facilities.

Position to visit different places
No standing shower but understand why as roof space wouldn’t accommodate it.

A beautiful cottage, very well appointed and cared for. The hot tub was a real bonus. We were made to feel so welcome by Alison, she obviously cares about her cottages and about her guests even more. Both Alison and the cottage were also very doggie friendly which was amazing for us. The walks in the surrounding area are breathtaking and feel so numerous you could go somewhere different every day. Thank you for a great stay, we will be back.
A little more outside space for the doggies would be great but being able to use the garden meant this was not a problem at all.

Great location, beautiful Christmas decorations with a real homely feel.
We go out walking most days but there was no where to put our muddy boots. A boot rack would have been helpful, also some coat hooks for our coats.

We recently stayed here to attend a wedding at San ffraed house! Ideal location only 10/15minutes away! The cottage was perfect for us when we arrived it was warm and clean. Fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook. The views of the sheep and horses in the field on a frosty morning was a bonus! Overall 10/10 experience!

Hosts were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Bubbly, strawberries and brownies on arrival were a very welcome treat. The whole property was spotless and the patio/jacuzzi area was lovely. Lounge has two cozy and large settees which felt luxurious, loved the beds! Small children will love the private play area lots of toys and room for them. Finally All the facilities tick all the boxes and there are some lovely walks, golf and Abergavenny nearby.
Booking.com didn’t send full checking in information in a timely manner (sent on the day of travel), this has not happened before when I’ve booked in the past.

We stayed in the two bed cottage for 4 nights. Absolutely amazing experience and we really liked the location , very private cottage with the host family staying in another cottage next door. We absolutely love the beautiful view facing the garden which is very convenient for my puppy and we also enjoyed the jacuzzi!
There is one bathroom in the cottage and would be nice to two so each room can have their own bathroom. We were told that the host is planning to renovate the house and convert the laundry room into the second bathroom.
Booking also marks this cottage at another location , so we had to contact the host to find exactly where this cottage is.

The Sugar Loaf cottage was absolutely beautiful. Hot tub was a dream and our view of a huge field with 7 horses and a little baby foal topped it off.
Alison and Dean are such a lush couple. Wonderful hosts and seem like genuinely lovely people.
We had everything we needed and even a welcome pack with restaurant and take away menus and suggestions.
The bed, pillows, sofa and armchair were all so comfortable!
Our weekend honeymoon couldn't have been any more perfect! We have now decided we'll return every year for our anniversary.
I have nothing negative to say at all!
