About this house rental

If you like peace and quiet, this property is for you. This one cottage along with the owner's house is all that is on a 30 acre tract of land surrounded on 3 sides by Corps of Engineer property to keep us from being too close to the lake. Even though, we can't access the lake on our property the closest public area, Caddo Drive Area is just past our driveway. DeGray Lake Resort State Park is 3 miles from our driveway. Edgewood Drive and Caddo Drive areas offers swimming, boat ramps, and picnicking. Our Cottage includes towels, (bring towels for the lake) dishes, pots, pans, etc Caddo Cottage is completely furnished along with 40" t.v., satellite, DVD, microwave, coffee pot, stove, dishwasher, charcoal grill (bring charcoal & lighter) and fire pit. For the children, we have a lot of unique playground equipment. Be sure to notice our HUGE deck under roof with porch swing , benches and large picnic table.
Caddo Cottage has a double and queen size bed in EACH bedroom. We can accommodate up to 4 adults and up to 4 children.

We stayed last weekend here. And it was a nice place. Big enough for all of us that came. There were a lot of spiderwebs though. Really the only thing I have to say about it. Other than that it was nice.

We didn’t stay Thursday 4/10/25. We checked in Friday 4/11/25 and checked out 4/12/25. Also the air conditioner didn’t work that was my only issue. Other than that the place was beautiful and a good stay.

Our experience was deeply troubling and unacceptable for the following reasons: Mold Exposure: Upon arrival, we were immediately overwhelmed by the smell of mold throughout the house. My husband and daughter both have mold allergies and began feeling unwell shortly after entering the home. The mold was pervasive enough to affect the air quality, making it difficult for them to breathe comfortably. Bed Bug Infestation: The situation escalated when, in the middle of the night, our daughter woke up screaming because she found bed bugs crawling on her. This was an extremely distressing and traumatic experience for her, and it left us with no choice but to leave the property immediately. I confronted the owners, who initially tried to downplay the situation by claiming the bugs were normal due to the home’s wooded location. However, as someone who has worked in student housing for years, I am very familiar with bed bugs and can identify them easily. The owners eventually admitted to the infestation but were still reluctant to take responsibility, even suggesting that we might have t the bed bugs with us—an accusation that I find both offensive and baseless.

My kids loved this place! Absolutely beautiful scenery. The kids toys outside entertained my little ones for hours, they didn’t want to go home. The inside is a bit dated and smells a little musty, but once the A/C circulated air and we lit a candle we brought, it wasn’t an issue. The property owners are real nice folks as well. It’s a great value for the price and I had to promise my kids we’d come back.

My family, including two adults and five kids ages ranging from 3 to 13 stayed here for the April 2024 eclipse. The hosts were wonderful and very responsive. The house was very clean and was exactly as described in the listing. The kids loved playing on the playground equipment outside and since the property is a ways back on a driveway, we were very comfortable letting them be outside on their own. Keep in mind that there is no wi-fi and cell service is very spotty (T-Mobile). We expected this, so it was no problem at all. There are four beds, so we had the kids doubled up on a few, again this was expected and exactly as stated in the listing. The location is about 30 minutes from Hot Springs where there is lots to do. Highly recommend for families with kids!

We had a great time, conveniently located, about a 35 minutes drive to Hot Springs and about a 3 minute drive to 2 campgrounds where my family did some swimming and fishing, very secluded and park like setting! Had plenty of room for our family of 6. Our hosts were wonderful, property was unlocked for us when we arrived. Great location if you want to experience all that Hot Springs has to offer but not wanting to stay in the city, we wanted seclusion and peace at the end of the day, it was perfect!

The cottage was everything we needed and more. It had everything we needed to make meals and sleep. Mrs Pat was also great to work with on getting checked in early and even helped us with our items we forgot and got to come back and get. Our kids had a blast and are asking to come back before summer is over!

Peferfect country setting , exactly what I expected from pictures , very nice owners, there is a clothesline out back We did not see till after we laid everything across deck , which is perfect to have being very close to lake , it reminded me of Grandmas house and you feel right at home. It was very reasonably priced for a weekend. ,Kitchen is very well equipped for cooking . We had a wonderful time.
