The staff were amazing

Fern lives up to its name in design. The interior actually feels like you’re inside leaves. The hotel product itself is very cool. The rooms are clean and spacious. Location is the very reason they are running on good occupancy. The style of the BnB is very unique as it is hidden away in Rosmead Place and they give a good first impression.

However having said that for a Colombo 07 *BnB* or any accommodation rather comes short in terms of service. There were a few issues at Check In when they tried to charge the FOREX discrepancy from the customer to even though we had a receipt on the day of the booking on what the price would be regardless of the change in foreign exchange from USD to LKR. The way to the elevator is creepy, first you’re among ferns then on the way to the rooms you are among thorns seeing the back kitchen and a dirty corridor. I was a bit irritated when I had a food delivery downstairs and they didn’t want to bring it up because there is no staffing but when I went down their lobby was empty and the receptionist was not busy. I do understand if they are preoccupied and they really didn’t have enough assistance with manning but it was not busy and it showcases that the team running the property is lazy. There are no water bottles in the room which is again quite an oversight for a Colombo BnB charging 10 plus thousand rupees a night. Yes, when I asked I was given water bottles but having water bottles in the room is basic.

Good location, price was ok

Staff could work on their hostility. No smiles. No greetings. Cold as ice. The door lock in my room was stuffed and the guy who took me to the room could not care less.
