About this house rental

Beautiful, restored village house with pool, airconditioning and splendid view.
‘Maison de Vigneron’ from 1850 with 4 aircondionted bedrooms and three bathrooms with shower/bath and toilet and a separate guest toilet. The house is very comfortable for 8 persons and 2 children; and therefor perfect for large families or two families with children or three/four couples.
The renovated house measures 180 sqm and has a lovely garden with a triangular, saltwater swimming pool (8 x 8 x11 meters) equipped with a jetstream and immersion alarm. Around the pool a teak deck offers sun loungers, a hammock and a dining table for 10 people. Here you will also find the barbecue/plancha.
This spacious house offers on the ground floor a very large living area with two comfortable lounge areas, a dining table for 10, a glass roofed breakfast area and a foldable table tennis table. The open kitchen is fully equipped with American fridge, four ceramic cooking plates, a hot air oven, a microwave, an Nespresso machine, a dishwasher and washing machine. From the kitchen one enters the shaded balcony with a huge fig tree and beautiful views, a dining table for 6 people and stairs leading to the pool area.
Also situated on the ground floor is a double bedroom (double or twin possible) with its own shower and toilet.
There also is a separate guest toilet on the ground floor.
From the kitchen, steps lead into the summer lounge area, with a vast open fire place, a huge comfortable rattan lounging set and a foldable Fermob dining table for 8 persons. The summer lounge area can be opened or closed to the inner courtyard as desired and serves as a shaded place during the day and as a cosy relax area during long summer evenings. This stunning area leads onto the pool area through a glass door.
Three bedrooms and a anteroom are situated on the first floor. All bedrooms have airconditioning, ventilators and high ceilings with visible oak beams. One bedroom has a double bed (160), one bedroom has two single beds. On this floor there is a bathroom with a shower and a toilet.
Via an anteroom, suitable to sleep two children, the master bedroom is accessed. Here we find a king size bed (180), a half open bathroom with bathtub and shower and a separate toilet. From this room there are beautiful views towards the Cevennes.
The courtyard offers off street parking for one car. The square in front of the house offers additional free parking space.
The village centre of Aigues-Vives is right out the front door. This charming wine village offers all amenities, such as a restaurant, several cafes and a pizzeria, a small but well equipped supermarket an excellent butcher shop, two bakeries, a pharmacy and a tobacconist/newspaper shop. The village has public floodlit tennis courts which are bookable by the hour. There is a hairdresser and a beauty parlor. During the months of July, a renowned short film festival takes place in the arena of Aigues-Vives and at the beginning of September the music festival; ‘Aigues-Vives en Musique’ draws young talent from around the globe. The famous pottery with beautiful local earthenware is only 4 minutes away on foot.
At a short distance the ‘voie verte’is a cycle track on an abandoned rail road, offering a lovely and safe track reserved for cyclists, joggers and rollerblades.
Aigues-Vives is a very good starting point for day trips, as it is perfectly located between the historic cities of Nîmes (24km) and Montpellier (35km), the beautiful white sandy beaches of Grau du Roi (25km) and Grande Motte(25km) are within easy reach (with possibilities for renting catamarans, surf- and stand up paddle boards and speedboats).
Aigues –Vives’ position at the foot of the beautiful Cevennes national park, renowned for its kayaking and rafting gives it a unique extra. Other day trips can be made to the typical local markets in Calvisson (5km) and Sommières (10km), the world heritage site of Pont du Gard(50km), the Duchy town of Uzes (65km) or Aigues Mortes (20km). Our visit to this property was perfect. The home (not just a “house”) was welcoming and well-decorated. Amazing views, comfortable everything. Location in a small village was great and the locals very nice. It was the perfect place to just relax for a spell while getting to know the region. Day trips were easy. So much to see. We can’t wait to return!

A tastefully renovated property with lots of character, exactly as described. Great location, both for staying at home and as a base for days out. Pretty much everything you might need is available in the village, including a variety of dining options. Highly recommended.

A very charming house full of nooks and crannies where you can hide yourself away. Lovely views and well equipped. The pool is unusual in that it’s arrow shaped and quite small but it has a wave machine you can swim against so if you’re a serious swimmer it won’t disappoint. Aiguës Vives has the usual boulangeries and a well stocked Spar with butcher inside. And the surrounding area is full of charming villages and lots of Roman history. We’ll worth a visit.
