Lovely two storey Machiya in a quiet residential area of Kyoto. Nicely decorated and comfortable. Lots of cute cafes and Izakayas hidden away. Internet works well. A comfortable stay for our family of four, two children under 12y. *Pay a visit to the new cafe a few doors down - the male owner speaks English, has lived overseas and is a great conversationalist. They have a great wine and tea selection, and plan to also open up a gallery space upstairs. Not listed on Google maps, but is next to the fish shop✌🏽
A fair walk from the nearest train station (about 9min). The Machiya stairs are steep- not ideal for those not used to climbing, or those with toddlers!

It’s very cosy and warm atmosphere.
There was quite a bit of dust on shelves and above the AC. I think it’s easy to miss but maybe it would be nice to remove it and it would be perfect.

If you want a place to stay that has a traditional atmosphere it is a good choice.
Thebathroom area is outside and it was a horrible experience to go to the bathroom or shower and then go into that cold. We also received only one towel per person for three days.
