Boulders Beach Hotel, Cafe and Curio shop

Perfect location, right next to Boulders. It’s great having a restaurant onsite, the rooms are small but comfortable. Bedroom doors are frosted glass, so light at night may be a problem for some, bring eye masks :) Even so, best value for money, clean facilities, bar fridge and coffee/ tea/ kettle in the room. Will only book here if returning to Simon’s Town, especially when prices are marked down.

Overall the location was lovely, right by the beach. There are penguins around as well which was very nice to see and experience. Those visiting should just always make it a habit to check under their car for the penguins - there was one constantly chilling under our car for the exhaust heat. I think putting up a clear sign that says they might hang out in the parking lot or under the cars is a good idea to make sure no harm comes to these little guys. The curio shop was also very nice to visit but obviously more catered to tourists and their overseas wallets ;) (handmade objects I can understand will be charged more for but things like plushy toys etc. no need for it to be that expensive).

Our check in experience was also unexpected. To begin with there was no one at the front desk when we got there, even spoke louder to grab someone's attention. Eventually found a few staff sitting and chatting in the dining area, busy on their phones and doing each other's hair. We did ask for a quiet room but unfortunately our upstairs neighbour thought it wise to sneak in their dog (to accommodation that is not pet friendly). Most of our night was spent listening to the poor little thing whining and barking, tippy taps pacing up and down. My husband had to eventually speak to whoever was on duty that evening to ask them to speak to our neighbours since we were up and leaving early the next day and would have liked a peaceful night's rest.
