Midtown Hotel Samarinda

Breakfast was varied and generally very good quality. Staff were all extremely friendly, welcoming, and responsive. The location is a busy street in Samarinda--accessible by hired car/Grab, but the area is not very walkable.

The fitness room was small and cramped and had outdated equipment. Some updates would be very welcome.

We don't have breakfast at the hotel, locations local from my family.

The hotel not have a fridge, I'm asking family room ,they give me seperate room from my children.

Hotel design is thoughtful. Room size and interior design were calming and relaxing. Carpet alley combined with beautiful pictures are my favorite, they were delightful. Lighting also adding a warm mood but not too dimmed, it was pleasant! Bathroom is function well; water heater, basin drainage, shower drainage no clog. I am happy. Also AC is all well, no smell coming out, this is important. Bed and pillow are unexpectedly comfy, I slept well everytime. Staff services are provided so well. From concierge, restaurant, house keepers, laundry, room service, also some help/tips on front doors are useful. Plus the free newspapers. Laundry results are excellent. Room service food also good, except on the chicken wings (sorry). Lastly, we got towel origami from the housekeeping, it was heartwarming. Thank you so much!

One night, I was dropped off by good friend with a motorbike. One of the security was not too friendly and rather judgy. He was not welcoming but rather asking where am I going... I am staying here and I am going back to my room, I replied. It was not a pleasant experience. Water station: The water dispenser on my floor (9) was not clean and this issue has been addressed to front office. There was white gooey/jelly hung on the tap. I just realized it after I filled my bottle and had to throw it after. I would suggest since water station can draw germs and viruses, it has be cleaned in better regular basis with maintenance on the pipe. Room cleaniness: Understand that room floor and bathroom floor are grey, but picking up and cleaning on hair can be more thorough and detail. Window glass also can be better every new guest arrived, mine had many wax/fat from nose print/finger print. Bed side table was dusty, this also can easily be improved. Breakfast: Salad bar was so so. Carrots were dry, dressing options were just creamy, there was no one option for lighter version like thai or italian. Coffee was too thick too intense, almost like putting cheap coffee rather than good quality coffee. I was adding 1:5 with water to dillute and achieve near a long black.

I asked receptionist staff bill for my confirmation but she answer the dont provide bills confirmation because I booked via agents. And then I ask CS booking.com for send my bills confirmation at my email and no response at all.
