Riad Le Sucrier de Fès

Fijne locatie, mooie kamer en vriendelijk personeel

La cour intérieure est grande et vraiment magnifique, avec un palmier, des orangers, des oiseaux, une grande fontaine qui peut faire office de petite piscine. Le riad est très bien situé, dans une ruelle calme. La grande chambre avec des fenêtres donnant sur l'extérieur/terrasse, ce qui est rare (merci à la propriétaire pour cet upgrade!), l'excellent petit déjeuner préparé avec soin. La gentillesse des dames.

Nous avons tout aimé. Cependant, comme montré je crois sur les photos, il y a des marches pour passer de la chambre à la salle de bain, puis au WC, ce qui pourrait être inconfortable pour certaines personnes. La terrasse est immense et n'a de l'ombre que le matin (elle n'a pas de couvert). Comme il ne faisait pas trop chaud lors de notre séjour, nous avons pu en profiter en toute fin de journée.

I liked staying in a riad, it was an experience, my/our first time. The owner was very communicative and helpful before our arrival (but was away during our stay). You could walk to the medina or other parts of the city, or get a taxi. The ladies serving breakfast were very sweet. I also went to a traditional hammam with one of them and I am thankful for that.

We came in December, the weather was very wet and cold, including snow outside Fez. The riad was very cold everywhere, even with (portable) heaters. It leaked into our room - we were kindly moved to another one. The staff on site did not speak English (much), thankfully my partner speaks French, otherwise I would have been in trouble. The location did not feel safe or appropriate to my partner for a family stay (we had children with us). The balcony doors did not open from our bedrooms. There was only one common room to eat breakfast in to be shared with other guests. The breakfast was the same every day, I was missing some basic things (yogurt, fruit, veg). Transport options for daily trips via a private taxi were really expensive.
