Happy with our stay and would use again.

Nice decoration. Good location. Easy for parking. Lots of hot water in shower. Washing/drying facilities.

Not enough to put us off staying again but shower too low and can’t be altered, but that’s due to the building, can’t really be helped.

Not worth the money

The room was clean

Room position was right on the road with no double glazing, the house itself smells musty including the bedroom, the other people who appear to actually live there were stomping around until all hours, we could hear the gate and front door creaking and banging all evening until the early hours so I barely slept a wink

Very Small Room

The location was very central to the town centre and there was a bus stop literally across the road.

Unfortunately, the triple room was ridiculously small for 3 people. Only room for one person to walk around at one time. Bathroom/toilet was also tiny and no storage. Handbasin was so small, that water just splashed on floor when you tried to have a wash. Hot water pressure not the best - running hot and cold. Narrow, steep stairs.

Good location for exploring the lake district. Easy to get to by train and we then used the bus to get around. Small rooms but comfortable enough. Nice shower, beds were comfortable and had tea and coffee making facilities

Okay if you’re on a budget, but set low expectations.

Great location but the room was off, there were a number of stains and marks across the walls, wallpaper peeling in corners, dust and cobwebs. We were told the carpets were ‘damp’ due to cleaning prior to our visit, but were surprised at the stale smell of our room, didnt reflect this.

Aside from the shower being average, this place wasnt enjoyable. I would’ve much rather have paid abit extra for a clean and fresh room. We also had a couple above us arguing very loudly past 11PM at night. I know that’s not the hosts fault, but bear this in mind when booking.

Not worth it

3 bed room okay for one or two. Near the city centre. Equipped with everything you need. Lots of flyers for activities and information.

When you walk in, you’re immediately hit with the smell of chlorine. The room itself had a damp, musty odor, almost mouldy. The bathroom was even worse, even though no visible mould could be seen apart from the window area, which is hard to repaint. The towels were covered with small hairs and lint, and when you tried to dry off, they stuck uncomfortably to the skin. Luckily, I had brought my own towel.

Disappointing

Great location, very charming structure

Needs a good cleaning, mold in the bathroom, no staff physically present, hotel WiFi wasn’t working. Among the several places we’ve stayed in the U.K. This place was a true disappointment.

Disappointing.

Location was good

Our room was on the bottom floor so we could hear absolutely everything. People coming and going front door banging closed. Feel with a quick fix front door would close better and not bang shut every single time someone came in. The tv doesn’t work. Room smelt damp and carpet smelt damp too. Single glazed windows I could hear McClures at stupid o’clock felt like they were in the room with me. Not worth the money we paid at all. I feel the money they have got and getting from people they could fix some of the issues they have. Really disappointed and the fact there was NO one around I could not talk to anyone about it.

Disappointing avoid !!

The location was beautiful

Very small tired room in need of revamp smelt very damp beds very tired and in need of replacing struggled to sleep as mattress was bigger then bed base so felt as tho you were going to fall off hallways also smelt damp and in need of a upgrade bathroom was tiny and the water pressure wasn’t great coming from the shower dirty shower mat. No wardrobe just a few hooks to hang clothes Even though the whole building is none smoking we kept getting a very strong smell of someone smoking weed ( cannabis). Rooms look nothing like advertised,electric shower box was lower then the shower head accident waiting to happen the whole place needs a deep clean

Good value but hosting and space could be better

Great location, clean room, good value for money, clear communication by message.

No safe luggage storage - just that we could leave our bags in the shared kitchen. Then, when I returned to collect my luggage, there was a terribly rude man who spoke no English. He tried to shut the front door onto my body and only let me in because I barged past him. He then was extremely rude while I went to collect my luggage and food - following me around the room and being very gruff, and shut the front door very abruptly behind me when I left. Also the rooms are very small so be aware of that, especially if you have suitcases. The bathroom is TINY: the sink is unusably tiny and the shower is very small too. The bathroom needs renovation as well, as it is not in great condition.

Rayrigg stay

The property was easy to find, the room was clean and well presented.

Check in process - the code was not sent prior to arrival despite following instructions in the message received, but was sent promptly when requested. The room smelt and felt damp, however there was no sign of damp on walls or any visible mould. They tried to cover this by having a gas radiator on prior to arrival but it made the room too hot to be comfortable at this time of year.

Totally overpriced Even for two people too small Moldey with water under the carpet. We all came out sick. The windows to the front couldn’t be opened so even more humidity in the room. The shower cabin is a case for amnesty international. Worst accommodation in our 3 week England tour. Just avoid

Value for money

It was easy to find and enter the accomodation - the code had been apped to us in advance.. The host was very helpful indeed.

We had the room in the basement, with low ceilings. It is not ideal for anyone over 6 feet. My son and I banged our heads (despite warning notices) and he had to bend to use the shower. There was an eccentric request to deposit toilet paper in the bin and not to flush it, to prevent blockage. The beds were good, the room damp muff and damp. The carpet was worn off. There was a small window without a view

Pretty room at first glance but has many problems when look closely

The room was quite spacious with one double bed and a bunker bed with two beds. However, the double bed is really small for two adults - my friend end up sleeping in one of the bunker beds because the double bed just won't fit two of us comfortably. Additionally, while the room is fine, the bathroom is incredibly small. The shower is the tiniest and has problem with water temperature -- when you turn off the water and hope to turn it on again, a blast of hot water will come out of the hose, no matter how much you adjusted the temperature before turning it off. The design of the basin is the most ridiculous I've seen. The basin itself is really small, and the glass on top of it (where you usually pop your toothbrush, soap etc) actually covers half of the basin, making it difficult to use. Also there are bugs on the toilet paper and curtains in the shower. We even discovered bugs on the curtain in the room.

The location was very central to the different places to visit in the Lake District. The room was good but a little bit small. The kitchen and laundry facilities were very good and convenient.

Great location and a nice little room. Pleasantly surprised with the communal kitchen and the facilities it had. Would definitely return. Had fans in the room which was a definite bonus in this heat.

Very central. Great to be able to cook and meet others staying in the kitchen. Manager very responsive when our tv didn’t work and shifted us to another bigger room.

Great place to stay

The accomodation has a fully equiped share kitchen and washing/drying facilities which was very clean. The staff were very accomodating, we had some washing in the machine the staff member dried, folded and put them in our room which was a pleasant surprise. We were very grateful

Reasonably priced for a three bed accommodation in Windermere. Bathroom and room were very clean and had everything needed for a short stay.

Hard to find nearby street parking on a busy weekend. Beds weren’t the comfiest, but fine for only one night.

It was central to where I needed to be, loved the kitchen area ( very grateful for the washing machine and dryer ) - loved that there was washing powder available.

Great stay at the Rayrigg!

The room was in a relatively quiet guest house, nice view across the lake to the hills on the other side (couldn't see the lake due to trees), sunset each night over the hills, good location, excellent facilities in the dining kitchen area, a life saver for being able to use and store in the kitchens, shower with a hill view, warm room, big bed, plenty of complementaries. Fantastic stay I will def be staying again next time I visit and recommending it on my own website for others to check it out. Beautiful historic building.

Someone tried to get into my room three times in the same night, it did seem like it wasn't anything sinister simply a friend in another room looking for their friends room and getting the number wrong. But it was annoying, however not really something the hotel is responsible for so not their fault.

Great location and facilities and seamless check in process.

Facilities and location were excellent. The property is well proportioned and having bunk beds in the room was great. The shared facilities of the kitchen laundry area are excellent.

The property is a little tired in some areas (windows) but was all clean and comfortable. My one criticism was the bathroom sink was small (not a problem) but had a shelf directly above it. This made it exceptionally difficult to wash your face without getting water all over the bathroom floor. Remove the shelf and it would be fine.
