The jewel of the house is our well-kept and spacious garden with a pool with a wide variety of fruit trees, small shrubs and flowers ... It has two heights and therefore two rooms. From the living room there is access to the patio and garden area, equipped with two barbecues, one for construction and the other for mobile, a large variety of garden furniture. with the possibility of tables and chairs for up to 14 people. The house is renovated respecting the traditional architecture of the town, in which the ceilings with the old wooden beams, the walls and slate walls, the hydraulic floors, the living room with fireplace, the well-kept garden with barbecue, the cellar with barbecue for on winter days, they maintain the authentic flavor of this rural house and at the same time provide the visitor with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, where they can enjoy the hospitality of its people, its magnificent roasts in a wood oven and the multitude of routes for the Segovian countryside and its monuments.

Why the name of our house "Doña Catalina"
History and legend:

In 1392 Queen Catherine of Lancaster ordered the construction of a church where a shepherd (Pedro Amador) appeared to the image of the Virgin (from La Soterraña), not far from the village of Nieva, west of the present Segovia province. Legend has it that when he went with the sheep, he encountered a huge snake. At that moment he prayed that nothing would happen to him and the virgin appeared to his aid. This attempt to fire the shotgun, but it was jammed, and the virgin interceded for him and killed the snake. Currently this can be seen on one side of the church. Seven years later the church must have been finished and was handed over to the Dominicans, at which time the monastic facilities began. Some time later, the queen dies, and the financial contributions for the completion of the monastery disappear; leaving the construction as at present. The most beautiful thing is the north door and especially the cloister, which despite being a 15th century structure, reproduces what could perfectly be a late Romanesque cloister from the late 12th or early 13th centuries. It is a quadrilateral with twin columns, monolithic capitals and slightly pointed arches. The capitals reproduce sculptural scenes with a similar arrangement as the traditional Romanesque capitals, only the carving is more naturalistic.

These capitals reproduce biblical scenes, an agricultural calendar, hunting scenes, the construction of the cloister, convent life, noble shields ...
