Hotel Samananchis Machupicchu is a very good option for visitors to Aguas Calientes, particularly for those who appreciate a quieter location away from the bars and nightlife of the town centre. Despite its peaceful setting, the hotel remains within easy walking distance of all the essential services, including the train station, bus station, main square and the Ministry of Culture office, where last-minute tickets to Machu Picchu may sometimes be available. An additional advantage is its location next to the thermal baths, making it particularly convenient after a day of sightseeing. The staff are friendly, welcoming and always willing to help. During my stay, the hotel's washing machine was unfortunately out of service, but the staff kindly recommended a nearby laundry service that proved to be excellent. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with large, comfortable beds, while the bathrooms are equally well maintained. Breakfast is fairly simple, consisting of bread, butter, jam, cheese, sausage and bananas, but it is comparable to what is commonly offered in many Peruvian hotels and hostels and provides more than enough energy for a day exploring the area's remarkable attractions. The hotel also features a pub on the ground floor, which adds character to the property while remaining surprisingly quiet and unobtrusive.
The only minor drawback is related to sound insulation. The windows do not completely block the noise of the nearby river, meaning that the sound of flowing water can be heard from the rooms. Fortunately, this is the only noticeable external noise; I assume that some guests may even find it relaxing rather than disruptive. Overall, it is a small issue that does little to detract from an otherwise very pleasant and comfortable stay.

Friendly staff and clean room.
Bedroom window didn’t have any curtains, bathroom windows didn’t close properly. Shower head needed replacement. There is no elevator to the reception of the room. The hotel is uphill

I organized this trip for my family, and our group of six included my parents. On the morning of our arrival, I was able to add a third room at the last minute, and fortunately, the hotel had availability. We were very impressed with the accommodations. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The hotel staff was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout our stay. A special thank you goes to Luis Fernando, who assisted us from the moment we checked in and was the team member who helped us the most during our visit. Luis Fernando went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience, even helping us transport our luggage to the train station. His warmth, attentiveness, and outstanding hospitality truly stood out and made our stay even more enjoyable. Kudos to him for providing such exceptional service!
We did experience a few issues during our stay. I had originally arranged for our luggage to be picked up, but unfortunately that service did not take place as planned. However, the hotel made up for the inconvenience by offering us a late checkout. This was greatly appreciated, as it allowed us to freshen up and relax after a long day exploring Machu Picchu, especially since our train departure was scheduled for after 8:00 PM. That thoughtful gesture demonstrated that the hotel genuinely cares about its guests and is committed to providing good service. That said, there was another disappointment. On the morning before our tour, we experienced problems with the shower, as there was no hot water available. We notified the front desk, but it took quite some time for the water to warm up, and even then, it never became truly hot. Because we had an early guided tour scheduled, half of our family had to settle for lukewarm showers, which was far from ideal. It appeared that the hotel may have difficulty maintaining consistent hot water when multiple rooms are using showers at the same time. While the staff was responsive, this was definitely a drawback to an otherwise enjoyable stay.

The workers were very friendly and assisted us with all our concerns. The beds were comfortable and the blankets provided enough warmth. This hotel is on the north-eastern most past of the village, meaning it’s a short walk from the waterfalls and hot springs. It‘s farther from the loud train tracks. The sound of the river is very relaxing. The climate in Aguas Calientes is rather damp, but thanks to the staff, we always had a change of towels when we needed them.
We were a family of four. But there was only ONE hook in the shower room for hanging towels. There were 2 hangers and we requested for 2 more. But there was hardly a place to hang them. There was a closet with a 40 cm-long bar for hanging. Also, the room we booked had a picture of a table and 2 chairs. In our room, there were none. Though the staff offered to provide us a table and chairs, there was no space for them in our room. Instead, we were allowed to use the breakfast room for sitting. Their credit card machine did not work. We tried 2 credit cards, but both didn’t function here. But these cards worked at the nearby restaurants. In the end, we had to pay cash at this hotel, which was disadvantageous on our part.
