Lovely pool and a pleasant quiet area. Everything was as described, the house is quite rustic, as you would expect from an old French home, but roomy. No complaints.

The house and facilities were great. Kids and adults loved the pool and the cover meant we did not have to apply sun cream every 5 mins which was a huge bonus. The property is very rural so you need a car for popping to the supermarket but otherwise everything you need is on site. If flies are an issue for you make sure you bring some fly catchers. The odd wasp was put off by a citronella candle so we were able to eat outside every evening. The owner purchased some new pool toys for our arrival and a brand new fridge had just been delivered. One of the children left their toy bunny behind after we left and the owner has kindly said he will arrange the postage for us and cover the cost. Hugely appreciated, excellent service.

The house was pretty and located in a quiet and pleasant area. It was well equipped though much of the equipment was tired. The garden was fantastic and great for children to run around in and explore. Unfortunately the pool was a disappointment as, unbeknownst to us, it was treated with bromine and on a few occasions when the water got in our eyes, despite us all wearing goggles the entire time, it caused an immense amount of pain and discomfort to our eyes and took more than 20mins to recover. Moreover the chemicals in the water caused us to cough a lot which was concerning and therefore we were forced to limit our use of it despite trying some of the owner’s suggestions to improve ventilation and dilute the chemicals. This was a real shame as the pool was the main thing that attracted us to La Canterie and which the children were most excited about. On top of this the house was not particularly clean, with surfaces and window sills covered in cobwebs and dead flies, mould in the fridge and food stuffs long past their use by dates. We caught a mouse on the second day after having observed it boldly run across the kitchen surfaces on at least two occasions. We then paid 100 euros for the privilege of having the house cleaned AFTER we left. Communication with the owner was pleasant throughout and despite his best efforts to help improve our experience of the swimming pool it was soon determined that there was little that could be done to resolve the issue so we powered on and made the best of the rest of our holiday.

The property and garden was lovely-plenty of activities to amuse everyone-2 bikes, trampoline, badmington, boules, table tennis and much more. The pool was very good with retractable sides to open on a hot day. There was also plenty of seating in the grounds.Wifi was good and although we didn’t need due to the hot weather, there was a selection of books and games and tv had netflix etc.Sébastien was an excellent host-always there at the end of the phone and any problems dealt with quickly.Sébastien was also brilliant when we had any questions or needed local information. The surrounding area was nice and quiet, although quite far from tourist attractions. We all had a much needed break and relaxing time with wonderful hot weather!

We were four mums with our children taking a well earned rest….we cannot wax lyrical enough about how much this house played a huge part in our enjoyment! It’s set up perfectly for larger groups with so many seating areas, so much to do and good cupboard/drawer space. If you want a quiet house, away from it all, with the ability to not worry about annoying neighbours, with so much to do in and outside the house then this is it. Safe for younger kids too. We stargazed on the trampoline, swam every day, cycled to the nearby village and had pool competitions constantly. The kitchen has lots of utensils, the washing machine is good and the TV barely used but handy when we did. Sébastien is very communicative on email and a very helpful host. This house is blinking brilliant!

We had a brilliant time. The pool and the outside space and equipment was perfect for our two families. We barely went inside! (Although there was Netflix for when the kids needed to cool off!) Sebastien was a great host with super communication.

Sebastian was an accommodating and helpful host, and we enjoyed our stay at his property. We were a group of 7, including 2 young children, and 2 elderly grandparents. It is a rural, charming house in farm country. The kitchen, dining and living areas are on the main floor, with the 4 bedrooms located upstairs. There is one full bedroom on the ground floor, and one full bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is well appointed, including a stove, oven, dishwasher and refrigerator. There are two dining areas, one attached to the kitchen, and another more formal space by the living room. Each easily accommodated all members of our party eating at one time. The living area has several comfortable couches, and an internet-connected TV where we could log into our favorite streaming services. We try to travel light, and enjoyed use of the washer and dryer to do several loads of laundry. We did have a small challenge understanding operation of the European style dryer with a water tray, but Sebastian responded quickly to our question and helped clear things up. Since we were coming from the US, Sebastian also included bed linens and towels in the cost of our rental, rather than as an additional charge, which we understand may be customary in some European rentals. We greatly enjoyed the grounds of the property, and they were particularly well equipped for children with a trampoline, swing set and pool. Everyone enjoyed the pool to cool off from the summer days. The covered enclosure kept it warm and comfortable, even for late night swimming and relaxing. The rural setting was peaceful and quiet, and we could easily reach shopping, dining and entertainment/tourist activities by car within 30-60 minutes driving time. There was plenty of parking for our two rental cars.
