Home from home. Enjoyable stay.

We were made very welcome and Julie was an exceptional host . Nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely room and the bed and bedding were spotless and really comfy. It was pouring with rain but we decided to go out in the evening and Julie took us and brought us back . She also took us to the Railway station the following day for our steam train trip. She treated us like friends.

Would have liked a TV in our room although there was a shared TV lounge downstairs.

Breakfast was really good. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Julie was so welcoming and friendly. We loved the pool table and made use of it. The location was perfect for Churnet Valley Railway

We loved our stay here! Julie was very accommodating and welcoming. She made me lots of tea and also gave us a lift to and from the wedding venue. The room was beautiful and spacious. Great location.

Hostess Julie was very welcoming and concerned for our comfort.

Location great when visiting Foxtail Barns for a wedding. Hostess welcoming and did everything to make us feel at home. Cooked breakfast was great with food cooked to individual tastes.

Wasn't offered cereals or toast and marmalade for breakfast which would have been a nice touch, but there again we didn't ask! Orange juice poured out for us which I didn't want ,so was really a waste. Not a fan of textured bedding. I think plain smooth white bedding would be much better. Tap on wash basin in shower room wrong fit for the washbasin.

Julie is a great host and she couldn’t do enough for us. The place is spotless and the room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable and the pillows (for a very picky person like me) were abundant so you can pick your best one and they all made a perfect match. I would recommend a visit to my friends and if I am around the area again I would definitely choose this place.

All the expectation of a hotel (nice linen,fluffy towels,bathroom products) with a feel of home.

It was the perfect location for our Bombay Express dining experience on the Churnet Valley railway. Also ideally placed for excellent dining at the Grosvenor restaurant (nearby campsite) and exploring Cheadle market town the history of the local Wetherspoons (and significance of its decor) is fascinating! Julie provided a lovely, friendly welcome and happily tailored our breakfast requirements around our other commitments - her full English on our last day was excellent. Great to chat to Julie about life and local history in Kingsley and the surrounding area. An all round delightful experience.

Lovely short stay.

Welcome and location were excellent.

Other people staying in the property were up quite late into early hours of morning and weren’t being particularly quiet. Whilst pool table was advertised and in the photos. No mention of being able to use it.

Julie, the host is lovely. She made our stay really enjoyable, she is really good company. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. We had Julie's full English breakfast, which was also lovely, and really good value. We were going to a wedding at Foxtail barns, which was only 5 miles away, so very convenient. Higherlands is also only around 5 miles away from Alton Towers, so a convenient base for visiting their too. All in all a great stay. Thanks Julie.

Very close to alton towers and Julie went above and beyond as soon as we got to the property, really friendly as a sign at the house says come as strangers leave as friends we will be back thankyou for a great night Julie really appreciated see you soon.

Lovely stay

Excellent location for our wedding venue. Julie was very accommodating. We arrived late but she cooked our pizza for us. In the morning she took lovely photos of us in our wedding outfits. Husband and daughters happily squeezed in a few games of pool. Thank you very much!

Nothing we didn’t like really. Would have liked tea & coffee facilities in our room and a plug in the bathroom sink as you couldn’t fill the sink in order to shave but wouldn’t stop us visiting again 😊

Paid extra for breakfast which was very good. Julie couldn't do enough for us and was happy for us to use her kitchen if we wanted too. We were staying in this area for a family wedding and Julie very kindly offered to take us to the venue and pick us which was really helpful and very kind.

Cosy, homely, and wonderful–perfect in every way.

What a beautiful and cosy place! We absolutely loved staying here, and Julie (the owner) was just phenomenal. Would love to stay here again! We'd originally planned fo drive down and ended up getting the train. Got a taxi from Stoke Station and it was quite easy to get to. Went for a walk in the area (see photos) and it was so picturesque and breathtaking.

It took us a moment to realise which building was Higherlands when we first arrived, but if you're not silly and look at the address and photos, you'll find it much faster than we did!

The whole experience of staying at Higherlands was brilliant from start to finish. The facilities were all exceptional. The accommodation was very nicely presented and clean. Julie was very accommadating from start to finish. She allowed me to check in early and even offered me a taxi service to and from a function which I had in the area that day. I felt Julie went above and beyond for me and her prices were more than value for money.The breakfast was very tasty and cooked to perfection. I would definitely return and encourage others to stay at higherlands.
