It has been our second time staying at this place - ideally situated to explore Florence yet also not too far away to reach the coastline for swimming and Cinque Terre for an excursion. We will certainly come back again.

Certainly off the beaten track, in the midst of woods. Lovely villa, designed with style and attention to detail. Not the most practical accomodation for three people, but the fantastic pool more than makes up for that. Very nice hosts.

We liked it so much that we went there for the second year in a row. The house is lovingly furnished and has a fantastic location. Giacomo very very nice and helpful. The kids loved the pool and we went on nice trips around the area. We felt very comfortable again.

We had an incredible week staying in Giacomo’s villa. It’s in a very sleepy village with only a restaurant and small shop close by. We hired a car and travelled to Pisa and Florence, it’s in the perfect location to do this. The villa its self is of a very high standard and better than the pictures. The Mezzanine ladder is steep so we decided to let our young children have the main bedroom. We had a lovely stay, it was perfect for what we needed.

The property was gorgeous. Area perfect for our exploration needs and the pool, fantastic to jump into when almost 40 degrees daily. The host, although we did not meet, Giacomo, was very courteous in answering any questions we had and rapidly too. The only comment we have is that there is not a standard oven in the property. There was a counter microwave/oven (we believe) but we did not use this as we are inexperienced with this type of equipment. This maybe an English misinterpretation however. If the opportunity presented itself, we would certainly return to Italy and this property in a heartbeat! Grazie mille Giacomo.

Me and my husband stayed for 2 weeks to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. From booking the owner couldnt have been more helpful, sending us links for restaurants and vineyards. You need a car, but you wont want to go out much haha. Its beautiful! The view is incredible from the balcony, having dinner and drinks whilst the sun sets looking at the view is really priceless. The pool really made the villa so much more. Its really big and we loved sitting on the pool steps having a natter. Inside, the villa provides everything you need. It smells lush, looks incredibly clean but still homely. We went to Pisa and Florence, from Florence we took the speed train to Lake Garda, highly recommended and quite reasonably priced too! There is a local supermarket in the village as well as a bigger one 5 minutes away. We would absolutely say that if you want to stay in Tuscany, stay here!!

We stayed for a week this October. The house is superb, finished to a very high standard, with everything you could ask for. All as great as it looks in the photos. The host was excellent throughout. Easy communication from the moment we booked to check-in, explaining the property and being available if we needed help. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

It´s such a lovely holiday home. Everything was proper, clean and decorated with lots of love. We felt very welcomed, and we were surprised how good everything was in shape. Whatever we needed it was found in the laundry room. We loved the pool and the were terrasses were perfect for breakfast and dinner. And the one on top was great for viewing the sundown and enjoying the Tuscany nights. We made excursions every day and enjoyed the surrounding area a lot. The communication with Giacomo was a pleasure and totally nice. Really appreciated. Everything was really great and we´d love to come back one day.

Very nice and clean house, max. for 4 persons, with a great pool area. The house is situated right between Firenze, Lucca and San Gimignano. If you want to visit these places you need to use the car for about 45 minutes. The villages nearby are not really nice, the views from the house and the pool are amazing.

We had such a pleasant time at this beautiful hideaway in the middle of Tuscany! The place is ideal to explore Tuscany cities like Florence, Vinci, Pisa and Lucca while one can also enjoy the beaches. This villa is stunning and the views are spectacular. The sunsets are amazing! Everything inside and out is meticulously cared for and Giacomo is a most welcoming host. His knowledge of the area is super helpful. The nearby town of San Miniato is a quaint village for small shops and wonderful restaurants. Our arrival by car was very easy and the local train station in San Romano is within a few minutes of the villa which made travel to places like Cinque Terre very relaxed and effortless when we tired of driving ourselves. The villa is a quiet, peaceful and wonderful place to rest and relax, all while thoroughly enjoying Tuscany! We hope to return soon!

Relais Il Grillo is more beautiful in person that in the pictures. The area is peaceful and provides for amazing sunset views. Giacomo is a great host - reached out days ahead of our trip to coordinate our arrival. Marti is a quaint town and centrally located for visiting many towns in Tuscany. This property exceeded our expectations in every way, despite these already being high, based on the Vrbo listing. The villa is stunning - beautifully furnished, very well-equipped, wonderful views, gorgeous private pool and spotlessly clean. Giacomo was a wonderful host, keeping in touch to offer helpful travel/tourist advice and ensure our stay went brilliantly. The location is perfect for exploring Florence (by train from a local station) and is well located for flying into Pisa. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this villa and Giacomo as a host - we had a wonderful stay!

This villa was fantastic. Absolutely perfect in every way. Host Giacomo was very helpful with lots of travel tips for us. The pool area is really special, very idyllic. Although marti is a small village it’s easily accessible by car around lots of areas - Pisa, San Gimignano, San Miniato, Lucca. We also got a limo tour around some areas and a day trip to Florence. There’s a lovely restaurant within walking distance (10mins from villa - La Bottega) but we also ate at the villa too because the facilities were so great. A real home from home - couldn’t have picked a better villa with a better host!

We had the most wonderful relaxing week in this very lovely villa. Giacomo and his partner have furnished it beautifully adding many extra special touches. It was a pleasure to deal with Giacomo. We have rented many villas and this is by far the most luxurious one wehave stayed in. As in previous reviews, the pictures don't really reflect the true beauty of the lovely accommodation, pool and gardens. Everything is spotless and maintained to a 5 star level, it is has a 'boutique hotel' feel about it, very stylish and just quality. The sparkling pool is surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens, and garden furniture and loungers are fantastic. Wonderful upper terrace to enjoy beautiful sunset views. It was such a pleasure to relax and unwind here and when we could muster the energy to leave the tranquillity, we visited Pisa, La Spezia and San Gimignano. It was a pleasure to meet Giacomo who has created a perfect hideaway villa, it's a real gem surrounded by nature. You will love it, just like we did.

We had such a brilliant time at this property which is beautifully designed and tastefully decorated. Care has been given to ensuring that visitors’ needs are met with good quality bed linen, towels and dressing gowns provided. The downstairs galley kitchen is well equipped with a range of cutlery, crockery and cooking implements. The hob is high quality and the small separate free standing oven is functional. The integrated fridge is small but a large fridge freezer has been placed in the utility room outside the back door where a washing machine, iron and ironing board plus sink are to be found. There is a second shower here as well as the pool shower. The main bedroom is large and very comfortable with two double wardrobes and a large chest of drawers. Hangers are in the wardrobes but not trouser hangers. The second bedroom is an open mezzanine with a very large, comfortable bed accessed by a step ladder. The bathroom has a great shower, toilet and bidet with a sliding door separating it from a basin area. The compact lounge is cozy with two sofas and a large ottoman. Stairs from behind a glass partition behind the main sofa provide access to the dining room and kitchen. A lovely table and chairs are situated by the pool for dining under two parasols. The pool is wonderful and a good size with a constantly pleasant water temperature. 4 sun loungers are available at the end of the pool. This is a really great place and highly recommended, as is the owner who is consistently accommodating and helpful.

We stayed with our two boys (8 and 6). The house and garden were beautiful and the utilities excellent. The pool was the perfect size for 2 adults and 2 children. A pool cleaning robot was provided, which kept the pool sparkling. Giacomo was very kind and helpful. Close to the major cities of the region. The local towns are pretty and peaceful (some with playgrounds) and the countryside breathtaking. Excellent restaurants and vineyards nearby. We had a wonderful fortnight.

Then in the evening you can relax on the terrace with a glass of wine and watch a beautiful sunset. The location of the property is very good, with easy access to the fi-pi-li road between Pisa and Florence making most places in Tuscany within driving distance, we had great days out to Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano, the val dOrcia and Chianti regions, with even a trip to the stunning beach of Baratti ( we didnt go to Pisa or Florence because we had been to them on a previous trip). Closer to the property there are the lovely small towns of Montopoli and San Miniato with great Restaurants. The Owner Giacomo is a lovely man who makes you very welcome to his house, he recommends places to eat locally which were very good and makes you aware that he is only at the end of a phone if you need anything and lives a short distance away.We loved this house and the region and can not wait to return,Thank you very much Giacomo.

Wir verbrachten zwei tolle Wochen in diesem Haus. Es ist ein kleines Paradies. Das Haus ist bestens ausgestattet und mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es fehlte wirklich an nichts. Auch das Grundstück war sehr gepflegt. Durch die Bäume ließ es sich selbst in der Mittagshitze gut aushalten. Am besten aber war der Pool selbst. Wir haben die Erfrischung immer sehr genossen. Das Wasser konnte man durch einen kleinen Roboter selbst bei Bedarf reinigen lassen. Alles in allem ließ Il Grillo keine Wünsche offen. Der Kontakt zum Vermieter war sehr angenehm. Bei Fragen war er immer erreichbar, aber darüber hinaus waren wir in unserer Privatsphäre nicht gestört. Wir freuen uns schon darauf, hierher zurückzukehren.

We were there with our 2 teenagers and we spent really good time in this very nice house, well located in the heart of Toscane, in a very quite place. The house is very tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable, with high quality bedding. Nice swimming pool also. Very nice welcome from Giacomo also, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommand it. To be noted : no wifi in the house.

We had a wonderful time in this charming house (2 adults, 1 teenager). The house is just lovely, stylish, clean and charming with everything we needed. The pictures do not begin to show how lovely and stylish the property is. Everything has been furnished in the best taste and highest quality. It has a boutique hotel feel with the added space and flexibility of a house and with lovely pool. We rented five or six different Home Away Apts for our stays, but Giacommo house is the absolute best! The only thing about what we are pity now, is that we did not stay in this house more than for a week.

We were a party of five, actually 4 and ½. Our one year old girl was welcomed by a princess bed and loads of toys. Our home in Tuscany was equiped for a perfect holiday. The location and the house were almost magical. The kitchen was fully functional for cooking tasty Italian meals, with some delicious herbs from our own garden. There was even an outdoor grill for nice bbq dinners. We especially enjoyed the pool area and the beautiful garden. Our hosts Giacomo and Daniela were extremely helpful. There was an amazing light show every evening by fire flies (end of June). Great combination of privacy and still good connections by car to explore Tuscany. Great value for money, highly recommended.

My wife & two children had a fantastic stay at Il Grillo. The description was very accurate but in reality the villa was better than we expected. A semi detached set on the edge of a valley, we hardly heard the neighbours and the only real noise was the crickets. Inside was very clean and well equipped but we spent the majority of our time by the pool or on the balcony. A car is a necessity but the location offers good access to the main places of interest. Giacomo met us in the village to guide us to the villa and gave us plenty of useful information, particularly on catching the train to Firenze rather than driving. In truth we planned to visit a lot more places but found the villa so relaxing and comfortable it was difficult to leave. We would recommend Il Grillo and hope to return ourselves.

Aanrader! Juli 2013 voor 3 weken dit huis gehuurd met 2 volwassenen en 3 kinderen (6, 9 en 11 jaar). Twee onder één kap woning, prachtig gelegen en afgewerkt. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en het privé zwembad is werkelijk fantastisch. Ligging is gunstig ten opzichte van de vele bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving (auto: tussen 45 min en 1,5 uur). De eigenaar woont in de nabijheid en is erg aardig en behulpzaam. Recommended! July 2013 we rented the house for 3 weeks with 2 adults and 3 children (6, 9 and 11years old). Semi-detached house, beautifully situated and finished. The house is fully equipped and the private pool is really fantastic. Location is central to the many attractions en major cities (Car: between 45 min and 1.5 hours). The owner lives in the area and is very nice and helpful.

Fantastic property we loved it . Very peaceful and secluded ,furnished to a very high standard .Description of property and location was very accurate with beautiful panoramic views. The property was immaculate , very clean and well maintained. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and showed us where the nearest shops and supermarket were and offered lots of suggestion of places to visit .They could be contacted easily and were very helpful with enquiries and provided detailed directions to the property . We stopped there with our two children aged 13 & 15 and they loved the pool, very clean and well maintained .The property although in a very quiet location it was very easy to access Pisa, Florence, Lucca etc and close by to major roads for easy access to the major cities.(Car essential)We would recommend this property to family and friends who want a complete chill out and would like to visit again . Wir waren bereits das zweite mal Gast bei Giacomo, in seinem hübschen Ferienhaus. Wie schon bei unserem ersten Aufenthalt, hat es uns wieder sehr gut gefallen. Alles ist mit viel Liebe eingerichtet, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Der Pool wunderbar zum erfrischen bei den heißen Temperaturen. Bei Fragen ist Giacomo immer zu erreichen, sehr hilfsbereit und nett. Die Lage ist optimal für Ausflüge, viele Städte und auch die Küste sind innerhalb kurzer Zeit erreichbar. Und nach einem erlebnisreichen Tag freut man sich auf die Ruhe in Marti.
