Location was perfect. We did not have interaction with the host other than text but he gave us great recommendations for dinner. Many restaurants within feet of the guesthouse. We were able to store luggage on a very early arrival but still git access to the room much earlier than designated. Lovely spot

On booking we failed to notice the "shared bathroom" but that never posed a problem. After departure and numerous flight cancellations, one of our group had to return and was able to get 2 more nights last minute at a phenomenal rate!! Nice indeed!

Great Common Areas, Small Room in Botafogo

Really charming place with an amazing common area - I think this would make a really great place for a group to stay - you'd have a huge area to hang out together. The room was comfortable, but a little outdated and small. That was OK since the common area was so big. Hammock was great, but not all rooms come with one so double check if that's important. Check-in via WhatsApp was awesome - no hassle!!

Warning that not all rooms have A/C and an ensuite bathroom - so make sure you book with that in mind. Botafogo is an interesting area, but not the best for those who are coming to Rio for the first time. I'd recommend this location for people who already know the city and want a change of pace. Biggest negative: Lighting was intense - fluorescent lights and all the walls were white so a bit stark. The room was much better when the door was open to the patio during the day.

Exceptional

Everything was great! We went for carnival and Marcus was helpful throughout with great tips for where to go and when! Carnival can be chaotic so having someone like Marcus on your side makes things alot easier! I also made some mistakes with my booking but again it was nothing too much for Marcus to deal with! The room was great from ventilation to the hammock right outside the door!

There was nothing to not like. Great location for getting around for carnival.

communication with the host was great, check in happens without having to pick up any keys which is handy!

we stayed in two “outdoor” rooms which weren’t inside the house; this made me feel unsafe. they were accessible by getting through the house and getting out through the kitchen door. one of the rooms was going up a flight of stairs and this was not mentioned when I booked the room, when we got there it was raining like crazy and you had to walk outside in order to get from the bedroom to the bathroom, which was annoying. no umbrellas were available for that. one of the rooms we rented had a bathroom, which was tiny but ok, the problem was that it didn’t have toilet roll and we couldn’t fine one anywhere. we had to borrow a little bit of toilet paper from another toilet in the house, which felt weird.

a lovely place to stay - good value for money

Great place to stay with nice beds, AC and big windows. The kitchen area is big and there was a fridge. When questions accrued we received an answer almost immediately which was very nice and the shared bathrooms were always clean and cleaned almost every day by a very lovely and helping cleaning lady.

Great location and pretty accommodation but a little more rundown than shown on pictures

The location was great and the house is very pretty. The no contact check-in also works well. The cleaning lady Alexandra was very helpful.

It is a little bit more rundown than shown on the pictures with mold on the walls and many mosquitoes. The host responded quickly but often only answered one of several questions. He also didn't seem to know which room was ours. It's great that you can leave your things at the property outside check-in hours but they are just left in the common areas without any baggage locker.

From Montréal Canada 🇨🇦 This Guesthouse is overpriced!!!!! I recommend first of all the guest house VILLA FRANCA. Villa franca is certainly a bit far from the center but it's worth it ( it is very luxurious and cheapier than this guesthouse)! In villa Franca: The rooms are spacious, luxurious and you have a royal breakfast. The hosts are very very nice, kind and helpfull. I booked this guest house and then changed for villa franca ! Àwful and overpriced!!! Why ? -The neighborhood is not safe -The room is very humid, old and there's a very strong smell -You can hear everything from outside! I couldn't sleep -Impossible to sleep because the bed is not comfortable -Spent a sleepless night the first night because of the noise from outside. The host told me that he can't do anything. So I changed in the dorm room by myself to be able to sleep ! I paid for the most expensive room that I not even enjoyed. The first night was in a dorm room and the second night was in a room with a shared toilet! -The toilets are old and sometimes dont work -The room is dirty and not well cleaned -The sheets are dirty -The internet connection is not stable if you want to waste your money and have a horrible stay, booke in this guesthouse.

It’s been our another stay at this hostel and we will definitely come back again. We felt very comfortable and welcomed each time we stayed. Owner and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. Great bonus is that we can always take our dog with us without any issues. Thank you Farfalla hostel;)

Good place for privacy

Good location in botafogo. It's good if you are looking for privacy, cause you do all the checking and front desk stuff via whatsapp.

The room I got was next to the kitchen, so it got a bit loud and it didn't look exactly like the one in the pictures.

Disappointing

It was clean, room and commun bathroom. Nice house in the morning, compared with the evening. Easy check out.

Arrived in an empty house and poorly lighted by night, in a strange street. Nobody's in... One and only one restaurant around et 8 pm. Booked a room with private balcony and private bathroom, none or them... Yu get the only choice between a loud and icy aircon or a low and warm one...
