Breeze Backwater Homes

The food was excellent. We liked the trip with the boat through the backwaters early morning very much, we saw a lot of birds and chinese fishing nets. The staff was very friendly and helpful and explained a lot. We could even borrow a scooter from them to make a trip to a temple on our own. Location: Authentic village life in the middle of nowhere (good if you are looking for this). You get to see a lot of birds and bats.

The outdoor area doesn‘t look not so nice any more compared to the pictures.

We had a lovely time at Breeze Backwater Homes. The property is genuinely beautiful, peaceful, and perfect if you want to disconnect. The hospitality was exceptional: warm, attentive, and very personal. One of the highlights for us was spotting jugnu (fireflies) at night, which felt magical, especially for someone coming from Delhi NCR where this is almost unimaginable.

The only thing I want to mention for future guests is that the lake doesn’t look as clean as the photos suggest. This isn’t the property’s fault, Kerala is currently dealing with the water hyacinth (hydra) issue, and during our stay the lake was quite full of it. It didn’t affect the vibe or safety, but visually it was different from the pictures.

We loved our stay there, and we would absolutely come back again. The staff was very helpful and prepared very delicious meals every day upon request. If you want to relax in nature and get to know the local cuisine without going out - this hotel will be a great choice! They also offer cool boat tours for birdwatching

The location is somewhat far away from Kochi, trips to the city should be planned in advance

Lovely property on the waters edge, I was here July (out of peak season) to enjoy some quiet time. The staff are lovely and super friendly, vegetarian meals enjoyable. I didn’t find anywhere else in the area to eat out this time of year. They have their own boat, and took me out early for a sunrise cruise. The backwaters narrow canals have very poor quality waters - not a fault of the property but worth mentioning. The boat motor running for 3hrs drowns out any bird calls and is LOUD 🫨 I did get to see quite a few different bird species. Lovely view from the waters of village life, Chinese fishing nets and Kerala’s lush vegetation. Would have been nice to know beforehand that there is a fee for boat ride and what it is. Not just added to my invoice.

This place looks great in pictures. It really does have lovely separate rooms. Sadly they have not been well maintained. I stayed in a nice sized room overlooking the backwaters. Numerous panels of light switches, however the room only has 2 dim bedside lamps. Great at night to have low lights. However the room is dark during the day - dark wood ceiling and wood wall paneling. Brighter lights to those dormant light switches would help. Mosquito nets over the windows would help tremendously to freshen the room so the windows can stay open. The pillows & linen have an unpleasant “closed room” smell. The bathroom has no ventilation. Small windows cannot open, and the extractor fan is broken. There is mold growing on the shower ceiling, walls and shower curtain 🤢!! The bucket & jug are also moldy and old. The bathroom has an unpleasant rank moldy smell due to no ventilation and poor maintenance.
