Villa Sao Miguel - Armacao de Pera

We had a lovely stay at Villa Sao Miguel. Our hosts were very welcoming and yes whilst they do live on-site it never felt like a crowd and very much left us to own devices. Yes there is a large dog but again it is kept out of the way and does offer that bit of reasuring security. As dog owners ourselves it was a non-issue. In a nice quiet location, town is a 10-15 walk on an OK road and we pushed our pushchair down there a few times without a problem. There are plenty of taxis (including Uber back) costing around 4 euros. There is also a very decent supermarket on the same road again 10 mins away. The villa is a bit dated from a decor perspective and the kitchen units especially around the oven need urgent maintenence this winter. However, it is spacious and fitted with good quality air conditioning. The kitchen is well stocked if you like to cook which we do. There is a good bbq in the courtyard. The pool area and terrace is a highlight with plenty of room and sun. The lounge area and sofa are great for socializing. As all one floor no stairs/steps which to content wilth which is great with small ones (or older ones !) Best prasie we can offer is that we enjoyed our stay so much we booked for next year.

Beware of the mosquitos at night (take plenty of spray). Note the pool is not particuarly shallow if you have small children. We had a 9mth old and coped fine but supervision essential The general rubbish situation is a little unusual in that it is a 5-10 min walk down the road to the bin which wasn’t evidentially clear at first. Great there is full recycling. One thing that could be improved compared to other holiday homes is just a few basics like kitchen cleaning products to wash-up, some breakfast essentials (coffee, eggs, milk and bread), a welcome bottle of local wine/other local foods , some fruit, and a bag of charcoal for the BBQ. Whilst some of this is not essential when travelling its a warm gesture to get you started. Other hosts are doing this. Also, given what you pay for the villa over a week one bag of charcoal isn’t too much to ask we don’t think?! A bit of maintence is needed this winter but nothing to put you off.

Maison très agréable et très calme. La piscine avec son coin salon abrité du soleil. La propreté est irréprochable. Et aussi les figues fraîchement cueillies offertes par le propriétaire 😊

Les robinets de douche pourraient être remplacés par des mitigeurs ce qui serait plus confortable et plus économique.

Great location! 20 min drive from the most scenic beach in Europe! Marinha beach! 15-20min walk from the main town with loads of shops and bars (Lidl, continente) 3 min drive. Outside area was just fantastic... great pool, lovely comfortable furniture. The owner lives on the top floor, which we weren't expecting, but apart from there dog, we never really seem to noticed them around. Really friendly lady! Over all we loved it and we will certainly be back!

The showers could do with a refresh.
