This is a fantastic villa with wonderful views from the pool at the top of the hill and, indeed, from the house terrace for lovely sunsets.
There's everything you need here for the most relaxing stay deep in the Umbrian countryside away from the main tourist trails, though they're within short drives as and when you want them.
The fridge/freezer is huge, the industrial dishwasher is a boon and the wifi is rock solid. Samantha is a wonderful host and is right there at the end of the phone to answer any requests.
We (a three-generation party of nine) enjoyed our time at Il Vecchio Poggio immensely and don't hesitate to recommend it to one and all.

There were 9 of us, spanning 3 generations sharing this wonderful villa set high on the hillside in extensive olive groves. The view was stunning, the house comfortable, the water for showers hot, the commercial style dishwasher a real boon and a good large fridge/freezer helped us stock up so that we didn't need to worry too much about shopping. The pool was set up steep steps above the house but once you were up there, it was a decent size with a slide which the children enjoyed and under a shaded area, there was a fridge for cold drinks. The children went feral, and disappeared around the grounds collecting insects and devising all sorts of mysterious games. Samantha was friendly and helpful and kindly gave the children pony rides which was a real bonus.
If you want to get away from the crowds, the noise, traffic and pollution, you have found your perfect retreat.

The location and views are breathtaking. The pool is fantastic. The interiors are rustic and a little tired in places but overall a wonderful stay.

This villa is tucked away in the hillside in Umbria. Built in traditional timber and stone, good size rooms and furnished in a comfortable and homely way. We were a party of 10 adults, which is probably the realistic maximum capacity for bathrooms etc.
Views over the lake below and the countryside are stunning. With the pool on an upper level, this is a villa to while away the hours in the sun, swimming etc. there are plenty of hilltop towns and villages to explore, but be warned: this is a very quiet unspoiled part of Italy, and not somewhere for anyone seeking the bright lights.
Peaceful, restful, authentic place to recharge batteries.

What an amazing Villa!
Set on a hillside with some of the most breathtaking views of Umbria I have ever seen. Our host Samantha was there to greet us and show us around and give us the low down on the local area (which is incredible).
The Villa is beautiful and very well kept with everything you would need and more...it is set in the most stunning grounds with panoramic views from every room. The pool is set up from the villa and was very clean and well kept and even had its own private bar!
We stayed with another couple and had 6 kids in tow from 1 to 7 and could not have asked for a better stay.
I would highly recommend this to anyone, we had an unforgettable stay and will be back as often as we can...we have also recommended to other of our friends who have also been bowled over by this very special place.
The local wine and food are some of the best we have had in Italy!
The whole package of this Villa in its idilic setting, the amazing pool, the views, even the smell of the many olive trees and lavender growing all around it makes it one of the best holidays we have had. Next time we will definitely be staying for longer!

So beautiful place! So beautiful house in excellent position, and very cozy! It is very Italian with a large number of lovely things. Upstairs pool is really wonderful with pretty pergola. View from downstairs terrace is magnificent, but from the pool terrace is stunning. We had daily unforgettable sunset show there. Equipment of bathrooms and kitchen is very good. My wife is a chef and she can estimate it. Water pressure and temperature were always good and stable.
When I talk about this wonderful corner of Italy, I always want to use Italian superlative degrees "...issimo". It concerns everything: the nature, food, architecture, people… Every inch of the road we passed by traveling through the neighborhood was so picturesque. And it’s situated away from the tourist crowds. If you like to relax and admire the scenery, this is your place.

We had a wonderful week in Civitella del Lago. The house is perfect for a group or big family. Nice big double rooms with bath and a kitchen/living room connected directly to a fabulous covered terrace with a view which can't be matched. We used the outdoor pizza oven as well with great success. The swimming pool area ( at the top of the property) is very nice and a must during the summer time. It is difficult to find a property with a better view. From every corner of the property you have the stunning view to the lake and small villages on the mountain sides. The surrounding area is very nice with lot of small villages without much tourism which we prefer. The owners of the house are very kind and service minded. We will be back.

We had an absolutely fantastic holiday at the villa. It has a lovely rustic charm, and its location is perfect for getting away from it all. The house and gardens are well-maintained and the swimming pool is enormous, with an incredible view of Lake Corbara. The peace and quiet at the villa is bliss, but civilisation is a short drive away when you want it. Plenty of activities are provided for all ages, and there are countless opportunities for enjoying nature close up on the numerous hikes from the property.
Watching the sunset from the front porch with a bottle or two of the local wine was a particularly enjoyable start to each evening and we spent many more of our evenings at the villa, rather than venturing out, than we had expected to because it was so comfortable and the kitchen so well-equipped. The local shopping and restaurant recommendations were all excellent and the owners extremely friendly and helpful. I'm sure we'll be back again one day.

We had a lovely week in the house ; the house was well equipped with 4 bedrooms , a large terrace with lots of space and a real stone owen -capable of making homemade pizzas.
From the terrace there was a magnificient view .
The pool -area was placed nicely above the house with an even more fantastic view over the valley, the mountains and the wine-yards.
The owner had made a local tourist guide and she was very helpful in making reservations in good restaurants etc.
We can absolutely recommend this house for a holiday week.
