Amazing place to stay for groups and solo travellers alike!!

This property far exceeded my expectations. I was solo travelling and got to meet the most amazing people and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The facilities are by far the best a hostel could offer with multiple rooms and activities on offer.

Really cool hostel! Will be recommending!

Really cool hostel, very big and holds up to 230-250 people! Loved the design and all of the memorabilia in the museum downstairs. It was v good value for 3 nights and was a perfect base whilst visiting the jungfrau region with the station 18 mins walk away. The hostel also host lots of events to help you meet others, sadly there was only 30 of us when I stayed so very quiet and harder to meet anyone - but I imagine if there’s more people it’ll be a vibe! Especially in summer. There’s also a bar and a nightclub in the basement which is pretty cool and keeps noise to a minimum. The staff were really nice, very friendly and there’s a WhatsApp group chat you can join by scanning a QR code at reception on the desk. The hostel has a homey vibe, with a huge kitchen to make food in, alternatively there’s two takeaway places next door or 4 mins to a Coop/store. The rooms: they have plenty of storage is under the bed in a large metal pull out basket that you can add a lock on to if you wish.

Check in is pretty late, approx 4pm - would be great for those who come early to be able to grab their Interlaken cards and then at least they can make the most of the daylight as for me I was waiting for nearly 2 hours to check in and didn’t want to have to pay for travel which limited what I could do - though you can leave your luggage and come back, which is handy. Would be nice to have a system with an electronic card or where we are able to grab that without staff if there’s not enough people to do this. I also didn’t love that the bathrooms were not in the bedrooms/dorms - so you have to trek to find either the bathroom or shower as they aren’t in the same location, so just something to be aware of, same for the wash basins. Meaning if you want do dry hair, wash face or do makeup you’d have to do it in the hallway which isn’t overly ideal for noise/space (dorms can be quite low light) but that aside it wasn’t a bad experience.

Litterally the best hostel I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in quite a few, super super friendly so easy to make friends, fab common areas and each night they have a a movie night, bbq, etc so always something to do, really big kitchen with everything you could need, super clean safe and had such a cute and cosy vibe, felt like I was in my own living room! X can’t wait to visit again x

Uncomfortable dorm room. The headspace for the bunk bed is too tight and its slightly loud at night. The shower is very small.

Sociable hostel, cozy feeling, helpful staff and feels like a place of history as my parents stayed here in the 80’s.

Some of the bathrooms and kitchens in the Jaungfrau house were out of service so made it inconvenient.

Amazing place to stay in Interlaken. The place is huge. Lots of different rooms to relax and just chill. Within 1 miles to Interlaken Ost ( East ) and Interlaken West. Easy to hop on the train and explore other cities nearby.

If they can offer a towel instead of renting those out

It is good with a lot of space and facilities to cook food.

Cuz I didnt know that room was mixed with males and females before check in. After two nights I saw that two boys are sleeping in the same room which made me so inconvenient!

Good Budget Option

The location is nice. Around 15-20 mints away from interlaken ost and west train station by foot. The staff is very friendly. A lot of fun activities are arranged every night. There is a big kitchen with a lot of utensils if you want to cook your own food.

Pillows should be replaced.

Lovely hostel with really good facilities throughout! Nice big kitchen. Drinking water in the rooms which was handy! Great location within walking distance to most things in Interlaken! Met some amazing people during my stay! Would definitely return!

Lovely hostel with a lot of history and clearly knowledge on how to serve guests.

The atmosphere was super nice showing the history of the hostel in a nice way. The hostel consistent of many buildings which was nice and at least for us the hostel was super peaceful and there was no noise after 10 p.m. The guests had a big and proper kitchen to use and there were enough of toilets and showers so no need to queue except rarely.

We stayed in a private room which didn’t have any racks / hooks to hang towels or clothes. There were a lot of space for example where you entered the room (small hallway), there could have been more space to hang one’s belongings.

Exceptional

You can see why it has been rated best hostel. Large property which is confusing initially and can feel crowded but ample common areas, ample bathrooms/showers, large kitchen and extremely clean facilities especially the kitchen! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would certainly come back again. Location about 15minutes walk into centre of town and main train stations. No on site parking - public paid parking about 5 minutes walk.

Minor queueing at check in as reception is closed until 4pm.

The Worst Hostel Experience I’ve Ever Had – Completely Unprofessional and Misleading

I strongly advise against staying at this hostel. Unfortunately, they have absolutely no idea how to deal with tourists and clearly lack even the most basic understanding of hospitality. The front desk manager is, without a doubt, the rudest and most unprofessional person I’ve ever encountered. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had in any country I’ve visited. Don’t be fooled by the pictures — they’re completely misleading

the vibes here are amazing, everyone is so laid back and nice. the facilities are great and everything was super clean. i didn’t have to wait to shower or use the toilet once. there’s also an amazing backyard area, big kitchen, fridges, the relaxation rooms are amazing too. overall would highly recommend. the staff were so friendly and oh how could i forget the activities each night, they were super fun! i would come back!

Well facilitated, top notch for non summer travelling

By far the most well facilitated hostel We've ever stayed, I'm not new to hostels but this is my first time for my partner and he loved it. The kitchen is by far the highlight of the hostel, it's very well equipped, had a good chat with fellow travellers as well.

It's a shame that we travelled when the weather was scorching hot, as the hostel only had one big fan on the floor, the room was very hot. So if you're planning to visit, do it not during summer. The price is also quiet expensive for a hostel, but it's switzerland you know, breathing also cost money.

First time hostel goer with private room was a game changer😀

Always felt safe. We had a private room, was nice to have our own sink. Front desk was very helpful. There were a lot of activities if you chose to participate. Toilets and showers were very clean. The earplugs on the pillow made me laugh out loud! A very good experience overall.

Fun, good location, cool hostel

Location is very central, mid way between both train stations, near all the restaurants, bars and cafes towards Interlaken West. Easy to walk to all the locations. Very friendly staff and there’s activities on at the hostel every day if you’re interested. Comfortable rooms and beds, handy having a sink in the private room.

Showers were a bit small and no curtain so the whole room gets a bit wet, including the shelves in the “dry” area of the shower.

This was one of my best hostel experiences!

I loved my room, even though I’m not a big fan of dorms. The hostel offered plenty of events every day - from BBQs to games and night club. They have a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, and many rooms with TVs, a guitar, piano, games, even a cigarette vending machine, HAMMOCK ROOM, and a bar. It honestly felt like whatever you might need, they already had it 😁🤌🏻 It’s a great place to meet new people, but if you'd rather have quiet time, there’s plenty of space to relax. Some people say it's a bit far from the station, but I absolutely enjoyed the location. I also know they organize free hikes, so if you're worrying about going alone, their team will definitely have something for you. Staff is great, friendly, always opened to small talks and any recommendations) Staying there was my absolutely spontaneous decision, and I definitely want to come back one day 💙 Your team do a great job!!

I can’t say this was something I didn’t like, since I knew about it in advance, but I do think it would make Balmers even better! I’d prefer beds with curtains to avoid disturbing others with light and to have a bit more privacy. Also, it wasn’t an issue for me, but you should know - you’ll need to bring your own towel or pay for one

Amazing!!

The vibe, the coziness of the place, and the people! The staff Ori and Luka were the best. It's very easy to meet people and make real connections there. Lots of fun activities organized to interact with the other guests. the place was also very clean and there's a big kitchen which makes it easy to cook instead of eating out.

The pillow was really bad and the mattresses a bit hard.

Everything was perfect except I would say 10 is a little early for everything to close. I understand things have to close in the night but mid night would make sense even maybe 11 but 10 is just so so early
