About this farm stay rental

Braes of Foss Farmhouse dates from the 1800s and is all that now remains of an early 18th century township. This working hill farm sits at 1200ft above sea level amidst stunning Highland Perthshire scenery; the nearest neighbouring property is at least 3km away. Sitting literally at the foot of the famous Munro Schiehallion, Braes of Foss Farm provides a wonderfully peaceful escape from a busy life.

Situated on a private 4,000 acre estate, the house combines modern style with comfort. It sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It has 2 wood burning stoves and central heating make it welcoming even in the most brutal weather! Ideally suited to those families, couples and small groups who genuinely love the mountains and the raw splendour of the Scottish Highlands. Wonderful walks are available straight from the door.

There is an enclosed garden where you can enjoy the farm animals in the fields around the house including lambs and Highland calves in the Spring. Whilst one dog is welcome by arrangement, this is a working farm so the dog must be well-behaved, kept under control at all times and on a lead when in the proximity of farm animals. Fishing and other sport may also be available by separate arrangement in advance and salmon fishing on Loch Tay and Lyon is available in season.

Local Activities: Head to Aberfeldy for about 5 miles where you will find Highland Safaris where you can feed red deer amongst other activities. Castle Menzies is a spectacular sixteenth century Scottish castle restored during the twentieth century by the Menzies Clan Society. The Castle was the seat of the Chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 500 years. Situated in a strategic location, it was involved in much of the turbulent history of the Highlands. The Eileen Cragghan Restaurant nearby is recommended.

Aberfeldy is a charming town complete with Dewars whisky distillery which provides tours, a small private cinema and numerous shops and cafes including the award winning Watermill bookshop which the New Yorker has included in a book of the '75 Greatest Bookshops in the World'.

Kinloch Rannoch has a 5 star hotel and restaurant should you want a break from the kitchen; there is also the wonderful riverside cafe for snacks and coffee and a basic village shop with post office.

Rannoch Moor is also within driving distance and the Moor of Rannoch Restaurant where the road ends, is well worth a visit, but must be booked in advance.

Notes:
Mobile phone reception is limited. WiFi is available
The farmhouse has a private water supply
This property is located on a working sheep and cattle farm. Dogs must be kept under control and on a lead at all times. Dogs should also sleep in the boot room and are not allowed on sofas or beds.
Please note: bedroom 4 is on the ground floor.

Wow! You go there and this is what you will say. A vacation home that is my dream home. Everything top of the line(especially with a family). New kitchen, bathrooms, carpeting etc. in a setting that is out of a movie. Sounds like I am exaggerating but it is all true. " Right to roam" is something that I was not familiar with but in this area, roam it is! Thanks so much!

We had a fantastic stay in the Braes of Foss Farmhouse. The property is superbly appointed to a really high standard. Lovely wood burning stoves, comfy beds, boot room for hiking kit and spacious kitchen, dining and sitting area. Ali was a fantastic host and we were really grateful to her for making us feel so welcome. We would love to return soon!
