Château Grattequina Hôtel

It was gorgeous - felt like we were in a fairy tale.

It was further out, which we expected. But we didn’t realize taking the boat into Bordeaux would be so expensive and we had trouble getting Ubers to come out to pick us up.

The reservation here was a spur of the moment decision, but I'm so glad I chose this place! This is a real Chateau, even though it's not that old. The grounds are beautiful, you have the garden, the pool and sauna, the waterfront cabin and even a dock. The place has been renovated top-to-bottom, so you have the best of both worlds - the old-world charm and the modern amenities. The hotel is located very near the center of the city of Bordeaux, so it's only a 15-minute drive there. Of course you would also want to travel around and visit the wineries, of which there are dozens and dozens. The staff was excellent, with Max (hi Max and again, thank you for the great dining suggestions!), who went out of his way to make our stay as pleasant and memorable as possible. And Lucie who was also very friendly and helpful. Both made our stay extra special and we are very grateful for that!

Nothing negative to say at all. Perfect place to stay, if you have the budget. If we ever travel that way again, we are staying at Grattequina

We stayed there for 4 nights and it was an amazing place. Sooo beautiful, serene, right on the river with green all around, well maintained, perfect service. If you want a Chateau close to Bordeaux or Medoc, then highly recommended.

While it's a 15 min drive from Medoc, it's not in wine country. A good place to stay if you also want to be close to Bordeaux.

Not worth the money for a 4-star hotel. The building and gardens are beautifully maintained, and the swimming pool with towels and toys was a big plus. We also enjoyed the little house by the pier and the cosy lounge with a chess set. Despite some lovely features, we found the value for money disappointing.

However, several things were disappointing. Our park view was marred by power lines, and from the garden we looked out onto factories. The cleaning could have been better, with dust under the bed and by the door. The breakfast at €22 per person was very poor: a few croissants, some bread and yoghurt, pre-cooked eggs and bacon, a small bowl of fruit salad, juice, and weak coffee from a machine.
