Cannon House Guest House

On the seafront, and on the top floor. Lovely view out of the window. About 200 metres from the Calmac port in the centre of town. Full Scottish breakfast was cooked fresh and all ingredients of a good quality.

Nothing, the rooms were clean and tasteful.

As mentioned in previous reviews the location is excellent, staff were very friendly and accommodating, they were able to let us gain earlier access, which was much appreciated

Wasn't so much "didn't like" but the room we wanted and booked was not available when we arrived, it would have been good to get this communicated to us before we arrived, Breakfast was very nice, but a menu to show options would be very useful... e.g. Vegetarian options

Very convenient for the town centre. Breakfast included was also very convenient. Clean bed and general good cleanliness.

Some aspects of the room (e.g. radiators) were really not clean. The room and bed were quite small with only access to one side of the bed. The shower was not very reliable, and would occasionally go from scalding to cold during the shower. The room smelled (an animal smell, like goat) and opening the window did not really help. The breakfast was convenient and well presented but the ingredients seemed quite cheap. Because there is no reception, checking in was not super convenient, we were waiting outside and nobody came to the door, other guests had to phone the number on the door until someone came to let us in, there was nobody around for check out either. There is no lounge or place to relax other than the room itself. I feel like this is between an Airbnb and a B&B, I would certainly not class it as a hotel. None of these things made our stay unpleasant, but together they do not make me want to stay here again, I would try somewhere else on the island.
