Disappointed and Concerned – Unsafe for Young Children, Poor Communication
I booked Gîtes Casalé Di Vito from July 19th to 26th, hoping for a relaxing holiday with my partner and her 4-year-old son. Unfortunately, the property turned out to be unsuitable and unsafe for a child, and the experience became stressful rather than restful. The upstairs layout was not accurately represented in the listing photos. There was an open-plan bedroom above the staircase, constructed from exposed roof beams with large gaps around the bed—posing a serious fall risk. Most of the upper floor had no doors or barriers, making it impossible to safely contain a young child. I spent the first few days constantly monitoring him, unable to relax. After realizing the situation wasn’t workable, I booked alternative accommodation and contacted the owner, Juliette. She acknowledged the safety concerns and promised a refund for the unused nights. However, despite multiple follow-ups with Booking.com and hours of calls and emails, the refund has still not been processed. Juliette eventually blocked my number, and Booking.com informed me that the hosts had received the money and now needed to issue the refund themselves—despite the issue being flagged early. I provided photographic evidence and was told the refund was granted verbally, but no action followed. The hosts claimed they couldn’t respond to emails, which seems implausible given they manage bookings through the app. This experience has been unnecessarily stressful and disappointing. I would not recommend this property to families with young children, and I urge Booking.com to review the listing and the hosts’ responsiveness. Transparency and safety should be non-negotiable.

Great place with great people and excellent service - I highly recommend it, but one of the connecting roads is too narr
    Lovely place and people
The plumber working for them is not professional, but they were really great

Great location, off the beaten track.
Beautiful location, lovely hosts. Borrowing bicycles was great.
Bathroom door handle was loose so difficult to get out. Stairs to the bedrooms were precarious. Internet went down, and because there was limited network signal, it was impossible to research things to do.

    Absolutely amazing!
Lovely property full of character. Exceptionally clean and great little enclosed garden for the children to run around in. Great amenities in the kitchen. You could tell how much the hosts loved their property by the thought and care that had gone into it.

Property is clean, it had everything you needed and was in a great location, close to Le Touquet. Very well maintained and the host were friendly and attentive.
Mobile phone service is not good, very difficult to use Sat Nav on your phone, in addition you couldn't use any other wifi related service from the internet on your phone. The stairs are incredibly steep and not stable, we worried every time the kids used them. Lastly they have a large dog at the main house which always barked continuously when anyone approached the Gite (including ourselves every time we went outside or came inside the Gite) or if it saw another animal. We were woken up frequently in the early hours of the morning, in addition to be woken up if we were napping and whenever we used the dinning table as its next to the front door, the dogs continuous loud barking didn't allow us to relax properly and enjoy our meals at the table.

Loved the location as their were some very interesting WW2 museums within a driving distance.
It was different. So very clean and offered everything home from home. The internet wasn’t very good, but we were in a Valley. The only thing I would say because of the bedroom location, ie the staircase was very steep if you are of a certain age it may be difficult to get to the bathroom at night. Children would love this place, as it offers something different.
There were no faults. Only the bedroom access difficult for people over a certain age.
