Well appointed apartment

Collection of keys to gain access. Property owner advise us by message no issues. Breakfast was not included. However the apartment was brilliantly well equipped you could have cooked breakfast easily. However we settled for a continental breakfast from products we bought locally.
Absolutely nothing. We had briefly visited the town in 2024 and decided to revisit for a few days. We were not disappointed.

We often stayed at the Coq Hotel for the first night on our journey down through France, and it has been reliable and comfortable. Following closure of the hotel, the proprietors have created a number of flats from the hotel rooms. Ours, on the second floor, was spacious, with a large, well-equipped kitchen / dining room. The flat was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, and we love the location, in a quiet street in a beautiful historic town.
Nothing. It was a lovely stay.

The staff are lovely and welcoming. The location is quiet which cannot be said for many hotels in the town. Also, right in middle of Montreuil and there is private parking ( at cost) the bed was comfortable and the room made up each day. Shower good.
A breakfast is available if you wish at extra cost
There’s a lift
We’ve been to the Coq many times over many years and although it is still a nice hotel it has lost a little of its charm as the modern annexe only is now the hotel, when the adjacent old house across the courtyard used to be the hotel too
This means the attractive old dining room in the old house is no longer part of the hotel( it’s now the Coquempot restaurant) and we have lost use of the courtyard also.
If you want breakfast items have to be preordered which was never the case years ago.
If you never knew it as it used to be, you would probably be more than happy with it as it is as location is good and it’s comfortable, if a little tired and in need of some updating.

the hotel is in a good location in the centre of town and within very easy walking distance of all restaurants.
The hotel was able to provide us with a family room which enabled us to have our dog with us. We were able to park conveniently in the street outside the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable : )
The room was darkly furnished and decorated. The hairdryer provided in the bathroom was terrible and we were unable to plug in our own hairdryer. We were able to turn the radiators down, but not off.

Stayed at the Coq several times over the last 20 years and it meets all our needs as a family with a dog. There is a Vet in town who will give the tapeworm tablet for entry into the UK. The Coq is more expensive than some other Hotels but cheap does not always pay off. The breakfast has changed its format due to COVID but is still excellent. We will be back. The Coq is like a fine wine.

Room was spacious and clean.Cannot rate breakfast. Was told in an unpleasant manner it had to be booked the day before.
It was a terrible experience never encountered before. We went to France from England for the funeral of my brother. On the way back to London we stopped at a café to book a hotel room on the internet ,which happened to be Coq Hotel in Montreuil sur mer.Had ticked the approximate time of arrival 20h to 21 h.We arrived at 10pm.It was closed. Finally a young man appeared and showed us the room and was sympathetic and helpful.BUT the following morning came down for breakfast and was told by the person at the desk in a rude manner there was NO breakfast for us as it needed to be booked the day before. On the same rude tone of voice I was told it would have been correct to phone to say we would be late . We arrived at 10pm.This same person said he had sent an email at 17.18 to inform us we had to arrive by 20h at the latest as 21 h was not possible. This email did not reach us as we were driving. He replied : this is your problem…The room was already paid for 140 euros for 2 adults and we left.He also said : you are English.I replied no :I am French so
this conversation was in French.
It would be most useful if the rules of the house in particular the fact that you have to arrive before 19h were indicated in large letters on page 1 of the site and not at the end on page 8. Have never seen such restrictions before for a hotel of this category. It is an expensive hotel as everything is extra and not cheap.I have travelled extensively and this was the worst experience.I live in England but I am a French citizen and I am very disappointed and even angry to be treated in this way in my own country.

The hotel is dog friendly and breakfast was excellent. Our room was well equipped, clean, and all in working order. Madame was very friendly and helpful, with an excellent recommendation for where to go for our evening meal. The hotel is very close to the ramparts so it is easy to go for a good stroll, but equally very close to the centre with shops and restaurants.
No complaints at all.

Breakfast was good, and very plentiful! Fruit salad, freshly squeezed orange juice, cheese, charcuterie, pastries, jam, yoghourt, cereals, tea and coffee...
Pillows were "typically French" - square and fairly thin. Definitely needed two of them to give support.
