Location, the hotel is 7min drive away from the work location.

No-one at the desk on check-in. I rang reservation to ask if they can get me someone. The receptionist lady was rather rude. When I asked her why there was nothing at the reception to let them know that there is someone waiting, like a bell or something. She told me they were literally at the back of the reception if I moved from one side of the desk i would have seen them. I was taken aback by her response. She then booked me in an old room next to the EXIT and construction going on there. There was no lock chain at the door. There was cleary work going in next to the room bcos the EXIT door was open and covered in plastic.

Enjoyed Hospitality and food from start to finish especially the breakfast buffet. Staff were friendly.

Our stay was fantastic. Dinner was beautiful. Room was basic but it was clean and had everything we needed. We had a very early departure and the night porter was so nice. He had Continental breakfast for us. Reception staff and night porter 10/10...

Wrong time to stay

The facilities were great, breakfast was decent. Room was spacious and well equipped.

Room was situated near the pool and exit door, and as such was pretty noisy. Lots of unruly kids (parents not watching them) running up and down corridors.

The hotel is beautiful, staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was spotless and spacious, lovely decor.

The pool leisure centre is a bit dated by comparison to the rest of the hotel but clean.

Nice hotel inside and out. Free parking on-site. Comfortable bed, spacious shower with all the essentials provided.

Minor complaint: The TV in our room was mounted to the wall at an awkward viewing angle and couldn't be repositioned.

Three Night Stay

Large rooms. We had two connecting rooms. It felt like we had a suite. Enjoyed the pool and some spa facilities. Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly. Very pleased that there were USB ports in the rooms. Good location

No fridge in the rooms. Some areas were looking a bit tired. Paint chipping. The sauna in the pool area was not hot enough.

A Really Enjoyable Stay

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with my two children for a family wedding. The room was lovely with plenty of space and plugs etc. The room was clean and comfortable. All the staff were lovely. I opted to get room service to the bedroom each morning for breakfast. The amount of food that came each morning was unreal. You really do get your money's worth and you definitely will not be hungry after. It has to be one of the best breakfast services out of any hotel I have stayed in. On the 3rd day we didn't fancy a fry, so opted for just cereal and fruit with yogurt. Not only did we get what we asked for but the lady also brought us up extra, including pancakes with Nutella and maple syrup. She said she thought we might like them. She was really lovely. The fruit selection was great as well. Watermelon, pears, oranges, grapes, the selection really was brilliant. Not one complaint about the breakfast. It was a 10/10. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I would definitely return. Next time I will definitely try out their spa treatments.

There wasn't much I didn't like. The only slight thing I disliked was the time the breakfast stopped. We were told at the reception 10.15 am but for room service it was 10 am. That would be the only complaint I have. Ideally I would have liked a later time for breakfast. Also a little fridge in the room would have been great. However I later found out that they can be rented from reception if needed. Also there are vending machines in the hotel if you wanted a cold drink or a sweet treat after the bar had closed.

Very tired hotel in need of significant renovation of rooms, very pleasant staff.

Lots of areas were very tired. Our initial room was very dated and at the front of the property and windows offered no sound proofing. Bathroom fixtures badly damaged by limescale and not adequately cleaned. We were moved to a slightly more updated area of the hotel by a very professional member of staff. This room was more comfortable but nowhere near deserving of a four star rating.

The hotel was very clean good comfortable rooms and the food was excellent.

Some of the staff were not as friendly and didn’t always speak to you. I also it quite noisy at night with children running up and down the corridor screaming.

Great family location

The facilities for children make it such a family-friendly location. The little playpark at the side of the hotel and the enclosed garden at the front of hotel were great facilities for our children. Staff were so friendly and helpful throughout our two night stay. Breakfast available to the room was a real plus with just a small tray charge to pay. It helped us to enjoy the holiday at our own pace with less stress around managing the smaller kids.

I like to focus on the positives. This holiday was just wonderful. Hotel prices have increased significantly in recent years, yet the facilities onsite at the Hill Grove Hotel helped us to reduce spending as there is less moving about to keep the children entertained.

The room was freezing, the heating didn’t work and when we complained they gave us an old heater that made a lot of noise. The staff didn’t seem to care too much when we complained. The pool facilities are dated and none of the lockers worked. The steam room was also not working

We loved our stay in the Hillgrove! Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. Nothing was an issue. We were five in one room, and it was perfect for the one night. Lovely shower, lovely breakfast and really pleasant staff, everywhere you turned. Highly recommend this hotel.
