Enjoyable stay in beautiful Dorf Alm
Dorf Alm is an old traditional guesthouse, beautiful bar dining area and comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms. The hosts, a couple with young children, were welcoming and friendly. We booked this property a week before, so little choice available, but I think we struck lucky with our choice. We opted for half board as little choice of restaurants within walking distance, and the 3 course evening meal was a typical Austrian menu. There was no dinner served on Thursday so we booked a table at the Downhill Grill next to the gondola. It is just a short walk to the Hochgurglbahn gondola, we hired our skis and stored them at the ski hire next door. All in all it was very convenient particularly as it was a late booked short break. Buses run regularly to Obergurgl and we did make it to the Nederhutte for the après-ski, bus into Obergurgl and getting a bus back around 7.30pm ( late one put on for event I think). Dorf Alm offered a good value stay in a comfortable property with easy access onto the ski slopes despite behind being further out of the main town of Obergurgl. We really enjoyed our stay.
There wasn’t much to dislike, Dorf Alm is beautiful and well kept. The bar closes at 9.30pm and is quiet. This did not bother us but if you prefer somewhere lively then you may be best to stay in the town.

Great stay in an authentic Austrian pension.
The room was comfortable, very nice decorated. The speckstove must be really cosy in wintertime. As we were with 5 people, 3 children and 2 adults, the separated sleeping room was great. The breakfast has plenty to offer. The dinner is good Austrian food.
Just minor things: there was no soap or shampoo available in the bathroom. Our windows were located at the street side. In summertime there's lots of traffic from and to the Timmelsjoch during daytime.
