We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Chania, Crete.

We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. The location was excellent — very central, just a short walk to the market, restaurants, cafes, the port, and all the shops. The apartment itself had high ceilings and a great sense of space, with a lovely terrace overlooking the inner courtyard, which we found very relaxing. Other than that, everything was wonderful. We truly appreciate Despina, who made our stay easier, and the owner Stefanos for their hospitality. The thoughtful little gift they left for us was very meaningful. We would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Chania, Crete.

The only downsides were the small room with 2 single beds was quite dark and the air conditioning there didn’t work perfectly, and since the building is old, the staircase was narrow and steep, which made carrying luggage a bit difficult.

Family of 4 adults enjoying Chania

Nestled amongst the high street shops and cafés, this beautiful flat is at the gates of the old town of Chania. And yet it is very quiet at any time of the day.. The comfort level for my wife and I plus 2 adult children exceeded our expectations in every way. There was air conditioning throughout the flat and a well-equipped kitchen with a washing machine in the bathroom. The flat has a big balcony with sun beds and a dining table, and faces the Venetian Walls that you can almost reach out to touch! The host provided plenty of written recommendations for what to do and where to eat in Chania.

The owner and manager were super nice and helpful. The location was fantastic (right on the border of old town/commercial shopping). The apartment was clean, comfortable and very nicely decorated. They left a welcome tray with delicious jam (we only wish we were able to take it back with us it was so tasty!)

A Hidden Gem in the Center of Chania

We stayed at Casa Grande 1926 for a weekend in April 2025 as a group of five. The apartment is right in the heart of Old Town Chania — the location is unbeatable. Although it’s on a lively street, the apartment is very quiet, allowing for a peaceful stay. Everything you might need is nearby: bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants, and shops. Access to the apartment involves opening a main door and climbing a few stairs — not a problem, but good to know in advance. The apartment itself is very modern, bright, and even nicer than the photos suggest. It has two bedrooms: one with a comfortable double bed and large wardrobe, and another with two separate single beds. For a fifth guest, there’s a comfortable sofa bed in the living room. The living room also has two additional sofas, so the space stays open and comfortable during the day. There’s a large dining table, a TV (please note: no Netflix), and high ceilings that create a spacious feel. The fully equipped kitchen includes a big fridge and a set of stools for casual dining. One of the highlights is the beautiful veranda, featuring a large table, two sunbeds, and a second, smaller bathroom — all very modern and well maintained. The apartment includes a free parking spot in a nearby parking lot, just a 7-minute walk away — a big plus considering the central location. We were warmly welcomed by a lady who manages the property on behalf of the owner. Both she and the owner stayed in touch throughout our stay and were incredibly helpful. We even received small welcome and farewell gifts, which was a lovely touch. An extra set of keys and beach towels were also provided. Overall, a fantastic stay — highly recommended!

As a few other guests mentioned, the kitchen has a dishwasher, but it wasn’t working during our stay. Also, adding a Nespresso machine would be a great (and affordable) improvement. The cutlery is quite basic and could be upgraded, especially by adding larger knives for cutting bread. For the person sleeping in the living room, it’s good to know that because of the high ceilings and large windows, the room gets bright as soon as the sun rises. However, these are all very small details and did not affect our overall great experience.

Casa Grande 1926 makes the perfect home base for exploring Crete!

The apartment is very spacious, clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The large, furnished balcony provided a pleasant outdoor space. Location was perfect: a few steps to the old city with stores and restaurant and cafes everywhere. Bonus: washer so we could do laundry, which was needed as we were on week 3 of our trip.

The dishwasher wasn’t working (probably temporary).

the original host (Stef) was great but the co host was useless ...."forgot" what time we were leaving even though we told her twice, didn't turn up on our leaving without letting us know until after we had left, it was a good job we didn't wait because otherwise we would have missed our bus, wasn't there for our arrival as she arranged a "medical appointment" for the same time, she couldn't be bothered liaising with the main host so we had to repeat all our arrival details and all she had to do was contact the main host which we thought was unprofessional...any way a flat of this calibre really needs to be having an espresso machine but apart from that it was brilliant

Light, airy, comfortable and quiet apartment in the centre of Chania. The large private terrace to the rear is an amazing feature. Very easy walk to the bustling Venetian harbour with all its facilities, which was great for us and our adult sons, we were provided with two sets of keys. The host organised taxi transfers from the airport and then onto our next destination which was very helpful, the taxi can park right outside the front door. There was a good supply of all toiletries and welcome goodies.

We all enjoyed our weeks holiday.

Beautiful, stunning flat with the greatest hospitality

We just had the best experience staying at Grande Casa. Exceptional flat that is beautifully decorated with a terrace with a view for enjoying the evenings. It has modern amenities with AC in every room of the flat which is uncommon. Location is perfect distance to the Harbor and still quiet from the noise of the street. Having spent 3 weeks travelling across in Greece, it was by far the best accommodations we stayed in. Stefanos had great recommendations for things to do, places to eat. By far the best part of the experience was Stefanos and his team who went above and beyond during our stay and after we checked out of the flat. We had a day of travel chaos and I don’t know where we would be without Stefanos. We left something valuable in the flat after checking out, and they arranged for someone to let us in immediately with a few minutes notice. Stefanos and his co-host Desponia checked back and made sure we got everything. Then we left a bag at the airport and Stefanos can e to our rescue and arranged a courier to retrieve it. I’ve never met such a hospitable, helpful owner who treats his guests more like friends. He is just amazing! I will be back to Chania and will only stay here. Best place ever!

Spacious and well-appointed large apartment in an excellent location!

The host was very responsive to any questions and kept in touch frequently to be able to meet us on time, and laid out welcome snacks and a brochure with excellent suggestions for places to eat. The Grande Casa apartment was incredibly spacious and with two full bathrooms, a large patio, and fully stocked kitchen. Loved the airy/light decor - everything was comfortable. The location is also very convenient - on a main strip close to groceries and fast food but also just 5 mins walk down to the harbour in the old town! Definitely recommend this apartment!

Best stay of our entire family trip in Greece

This property is amazing!!! right in the middle of town, with private garage. The house has everything you need and more. it feels like home. The host Mr. Stefanos was unbelievable, very polite and helpful with any questions (above and beyond). In addition to this, he has booklets with very detailed information in the house about what to do, visit, and where to eat. They also welcomed you with some food, and other little treats. Outstanding. A++++++

Fantastic apartment in a beautiful location. Stefanos and Despina couldn't do enough for us, lovely hosts who were very accommodating and informative. Family of 4 with plenty of room, one of the couches turned into a sofa bed which was perfect. Fully furnished, had extra towels & blankets etc. and a lovely balcony to relax on before heading out in the centre of chania which was right outside our front door. Would stay here again! Very comfortable high quality apartment at a great price with an excellent host

The apartment is very well furnished and comfortable.It is spacious and stylish and every effort has been made to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. The location just on the edge of Chania Old Town and harbour is excellent. The terrace is a great place to sit, relax and sunbathe. The host Stefanos is very easy to contact and our arrival and departure were very efficient.

There was nothing we disliked but it is best to be aware that there is a flight of about 30 stairs to reach the apartment from the street. The shower room is located on the terrace area just outside of the French doors which we had not expected - But it is very nicely done and it is extremely useful to have a second shower and toilet when 4 people need to get ready at about the same time of day

Stef has a beautiful place. absolutely gorgeous. he was so patient with my queries and arranged taxis etc. he genuinely wanted to look after us. there was nice welcome gift, small food when we arrived and when we left. very nice touch. the place is spotless. so close to supermarket, pharmacy, harbour and bars and restaurant. the balcony is immaculate. one thing I cannot emphasise enough is how cool Stef is and looking after guests. he was always enquiring but never in an intrusive manner. I am not the most outgoing person, and normally don’t like talking to people. but he was the perfect balance. enquiring gently if all is fine. 10/10. also it is two minutes down the road (walking) from a main travel agency kyriakos (sorry bad spelling) so it was easy to book tours, and the pick up point for tours was two minutes from our apartment. superb.

the staircase was a little steep. especially after Samaria gorge. but we didn’t go up and down too many times in a day so wasn’t an issue with us. only when we arrived and left with heavy luggage, but if you go slowly and carefully it’s not an issue. also the bedroom with two single beds had no outside window, only one facing the stairs. for me this was actually a plus as it meant when we slept it was dark dark. just the way I like it. and we only spent time in the bedroom for sleeping as the balcony was excellent and massive.

A perfect place to stay!

Our host was incredibly accommodating to out schedule. He let us check in early and stay late. They provided great communication and even started our stay off with homemade jam! The apartment is very centrally located with many restaurant choices right as you exit and really any way you go. The apartment was spacious and provided plenty of space for our family of 6. Everything was clean and in such nice condition. There was a large terrace at the back of the apartment. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it! Chania was a great city to stay in!

Wszędzie blisko, okolica bezpieczna. Piękny apartament z dużym tarasem. Co ważne, apartament znajduje się od strony podwórka, dzięki czemu mimo centralnej lokalizacji panuje tu cisza i spokój. Darmowe miejsce parkingowe na prywatnym parkingu, ok. 10 minut pieszo od apartamentu. Właściciele niezwykle uprzejmi i pomocni, w dniu wyjazdu zgodzili się na późniejsze wymeldowanie. Byliśmy 5 osobową rodziną, wszyscy bardzo zadowoleni. Bardzo polecam;)
