Locanda Pandenus Brera

Very stylish and spacious room with a comfy bed and great location near La Scala, the Duomo and the restaurants of Brera. The air conditioning worked very well. Our host was absolutely lovely.

There wasn’t much natural light in the room (the windows coverings were blocking views of stairwells), but the room was an oasis of cool, calm, and quiet, so this wasn’t really a big sacrifice.

Large, artfully appointed room. Great breakfast in the cafe below and very friendly and helpful staff.

It’s a bit noisy in the evening if you’re in a room facing the street but not super late.

This is a wonderful place, but depending on who you are and your style of travel, there are two issues. First, the Locanda is up a flight of stairs from the Bistrot. You cannot use the building’s elevator. There are no railings on the stairs. So if you are older, or disabled, or have any difficulty with stairs, this is not the place for you. Second, if you like a place with people to ask questions of-do you have a map, where are good dinner places, how to get around, etc., there is nobody there to ask. When I asked questions I email or text (what’s app), Vanessa and Manuela were very responsive. But you have to realize that’s what you need to do, and I felt like I was bothering them. The Bistrot staff was so nice when I fell in the street and badly injured my knee. They made me ice bags and were very solicitous. But the Bistrot was closed when we had to leave, and we are older and I couldn’t carry my suitcase down the outdoor uneven stairs due to my injury. So just remember this is NOT a hotel. Despite these issues, we loved the neighborhood and the room was very comfortable and luxurious and the neighborhood is great! I would not hesitate to send my adult children there, but not my friends in their 70s.
