YUMEJI Vintage Villa

I really don’t know where to start. From the begging ( great communication during whole rental time) to the end I felt like I was visiting a family member or a good friend. Yuki and Hiroko made me feel like at home. The place is incredible. An old machiya only for myself! It’s a beautiful place filled with history. Located in west north makes it a perfect spot for visiting temples in that area. It’s a two story place. Kitchen and bathroom dienstarirs and sleeping room upstairs. I think it’s best to be enter by a solo or two people. Not suited for family with kids ( steep staircases or glass doors). Beware it’s a historic building to treat it with respect and care. I can’t wait to be back to Kyoto and to revisit this magnificent house. If you around the corner my suggestion is not to miss the local onsen funaoka, small sake shop run by an old lady ( on your way to onsen) and tofu shop also on the way to onsen. Try silky tofu. It’s to die for!

Historic house with many interesting features. Nicely located near the temples and major bus lines. The hosts were very helpful and responsive.

I found sleeping on futons and sitting on the floor difficult for my joints.
