About this farm stay rental
Mount Folly Farm House is set on the cliff top commanding spectacular views. There are 3 bedrooms, and the farmhouse sleeps 6. We have a 6 person hot tub with panoramic sea views.
Bigbury-on-Sea is a small coastal village on Devon's South Coast. It has large sandy beaches, rock pools and is safe for swimming. It is also a great place for walking, along the beach, across the farm, over to Burgh Island at low tide or around the River Avon.
It has all the local services that you could want with a beach cafe, a pub, a beach shop, village stores and even a golf club!
But you can just stay at home and enjoy the breathtaking views from the garden.
The accommodation is half of the large Edwardian farmhouse, is completely self contained, with its own garden area and several parking spaces.
Upstairs:
The main bedroom has fabulous sea views, 1 super king size bed (or twin beds) , smart TV and a hand wash basin.
There is King size bed room again with panoramic sea views & shower ensuite & smart TV. The third bedroom has bunk beds and a hand wash basin.
The Family Bathroom is upstairs with a bath with shower over. There are two bathrooms upstairs - the double room has a shower ensuite.
Downstairs is open plan: with a lovely modern Fitted Kitchen with dining table - (Microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, toaster, electric cooker)
Lounge -(Freeview digital TV, sofas, wood burning stove, window seats looking out to sea, Netflix, Starlink Wifi )
Cloakroom, large hallway and separate toilet.
There are so many great restaurants and pubs nearby, The Journey's End, The Dolphin, The Oyster Shack, The Ring Feeder, The Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island. In addition there are many more summer takeaways also such as Bigbury Bay PIzzas, a 5 minute walk away.
So much to do locally, great watersports and surf lesson / board & wetsuit hire from Discovery Surf on Bigbury Beach, our nearest beach. You can wander over to the famous Art Deco Burgh Island at low tide and walk to the top for the best views of the coastline. And if the tide is in you can catch the Sand Tractor for an exciting ride back to the mainland. There's super family fun at Pennywell Farm visitor centre at Buckfastleigh and thrilling rides at Woodlands Theme Park, near Dartmouth. Guided wild swimming/ swooshing on the river or around Burgh Island. SUP options on the river Avon or in Kingsbridge estuary or at Bigbury beach. Dartmoor Zoological Park ( featured in the film, "We bought a zoo!"). River cruise the Kingsbridge estuary on the "Lady Mary" down to the popular seaside town of Salcombe, visit the bijoux Salcombe boutiques and avoid having to find somewhere to park ! Sea fishing trips from Salcombe or Plymouth. There are also many attractions at Plymouth, the historic Barbican, Smeaton's Tower on the Hoe, the Royal William Yard, Mount Edgecombe and The National Marine Aquarium. There's a miniature ride on train at Kingsbridge which is a delight for all ages, and the shops at Kingsbridge are great for groceries or having a mooch for gifts & clothing. Bigbury Golf Club is outstanding and welcome non members, we are a couple of minutes away from Bigbury Golf Club and just around the coast there is Thurlestone Golf Club, so two outstanding 18 hole courses, with breath taking sea views on your doorstep.

We spent 5 days here over New Years and had the most perfect time away. The farm house was so lovely and all our needs were catered for. There were even logs provided for the log fire. The location was absolutely stunning, very good for the soul. Plenty of room for all 7 of us, and the kids enjoyed it too. Beds are comfy. Helen the host greeted us when we arrived and provided us with all the information needed. She is a great host. We would very much recommend this place and will definitely be booking up to stay again.

My partner and two adult children enjoyed our Christmas in this beautiful location. We had communicated with Helen frequently before arriving and so could just unpack and relax. Photos do not do the house or location justice. We were overlooking the estuary which is a short walk down the hill and then straight onto the beach. Careful to watch the tides during our stay, we made the most of the location.The house is very well equipped and we were able to enjoy a full Christmas dinner without worry we did not have sufficient kitchen ware. Large and well presented rooms provide a relaxing atmosphere which we enjoyed. The house is very warm and there is a wood burner should we have needed it. Our dog made friends with the two resident dogs and had a lovely holiday too.

A family of grandparents, parents and young children, we all loved our stay at Mount Folly Farm. We felt entirely welcome in this warm and cosy property and it was lovely to return to at the end of the day. The house was immaculately clean and very well equipped. The views were unsurpassable, as were the beaches, with large sandy areas, small coves and rock pools. There are endless walks and the wildlife is incredible.

The location was stunning and Helen, John and Jane were so welcoming. There are some lovely pubs within walking distance if you are fit. The farmhouse is cosy and very well equipped andwe loved staying here.
