Inside, the house is stylish yet wonderfully welcoming. The open layout makes the most of the incredible views, allowing you to soak up the scenery from almost every room. The large kitchen with stunning views of the famous Burgh Island makes cooking a delight for family groups. Step outside onto the patio or lawn with a book and your favourite drink and enjoy long, lazy days in the sunshine. The lower garden tier is a charming wildflower haven, attracting butterflies, bees, and other local wildlife.
This home is just as magical in the cooler months, with underfloor heating making it toasty warm. A cosy woodburner transforms the living area into the perfect spot for movie nights, board games, or simply unwinding after a refreshing coastal walk.
The property boasts six luxurious and inviting bedrooms. The main house offers five lovely rooms, including a groundfloor kingsize bedroom ideal for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. Upstairs, four more beautifully appointed bedrooms all enjoy breathtaking sea views. The sixth bedroom sits within a delightful adjoining annexe, accessed externally. With uninterrupted sea views and its own living room, kitchen and bathroom, the annexe is a peaceful retreat for grandparents, teenagers or anyone seeking a little extra privacy while still being part of the group.
About a holiday in Bigbury on Sea...
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bigbury-on-Sea is renowned for its lovely golden sandy beach and dramatic coastal walks. There is plenty for water sports enthusiasts, including it’s very own award winning surf school offering surf and paddleboard lessons, as well as being able to hire boards and kayaks. Bigbury Beach is an ideal spot from which you can set off on your paddleboard and explore the coastline or start your day with a refreshing sea swim or a round of golf at nearby Bigbury Golf Course. Walk across the beach at low tide to Burgh Island Hotel, a unique Art Deco Hotel favoured by Agatha Christie and Noel Coward or at high tide, ride across the water on the famous sea tractor. Whilst on the island, why not hike to the top and take in those breath-taking 360-degree views out to Bantham and across to Hope Cove or just relax and enjoy a drink in the 14th Century Pilchard Inn.
Set above the beach is the famous Venus Café, open 364 days a year serving excellent organic food, pasties and local ice-creams and during the summer months you’ll find Beach Barista parked up on the beach serving great coffee. Located astride the South West Coastal Path, keen walkers will enjoy exploring the delights of the numerous bays and headlands along this beautiful piece of coastline and visit some of the old pubs/restaurants in the nearby villages along the way. Visit the nearby charming harbour towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth or further afield, explore Dartmoor or the historic town of Totnes.
* We provide tea/coffee/sugar for guests. Liquid hand soap & toilet rolls are provided in all bathrooms. Dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets and cleaning products are also provided.
* Please supervise young children in the tiered garden, although the tiers are not steep and the slopes are gentle. There are also shallow steps leading from the patio-area to the lower garden for your ease of access. To access the patio-area from the kitchen, there is a small flight of steps, which takes you down onto the patio-area. Internally, on the first floor, along the hallway leading to bedrooms 2 and 3 there is one small step down and gentle slope along the hallway and one small step up into bedroom 3.
