Otaru Geihinkan

The hotel was pretty, spotlessly clean and right on the ocean. The staff members were kind, helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed the BBQ they prepared for us on the beach.

The wifi was a little spotty but besides that it was wonderful.

Wonderful hotel right on the glorious beach at Shioya near Otaru. Very welcoming staff and very well set up self catering room. We loved our five night stay. Especially the morning and evening beach strolls. Beautiful.

It was a bit noisy in the windy nights otherwise very comfortable. Thank you.

Beds were comfy, amazing view of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and even helped us with our laundry, as there wasn’t a washing machine in our room nor a laundromat nearby. Meals in the restaurant tasted great and affordable. 3 min drive from a Seico mart.

We didn’t realise the deluxe room had a ladder to get upstairs, it was in the way and we bumped our heads on it as it was an awkward height.

Location of the B&B is pretty awesome since its ocean front. Enjoyed my morning coffee on the desk looking at the ocean and surrounding scenery. Room is well equipped but missing a coffee/espresso machine. It has one of the best washer/dryer during our trip. The staff are friendly and eager to help. Owner has a REALLY nice and RARE Japanese whiskey collection even if the price is high. However, the staffs work there are not whiskey drinkers at all so its hard to enjoy a conversation when drinking.

The best suite is located on the ground floor which has pro & con. Pro is you don't have to lug your large suitcase upstairs. However the largest Con for us was the neighbor upstairs were loud with their foot steps and noise. First two nights there was a kid upstairs doing tumbles or bouncing a ball. I had to ask the hotel staff to tell them to keep it down. Would love to not have to deal with an upstairs neighbor since paying the best room. While sitting on the deck was serene the patio table was dirty with bird poo. The deck railing has spider webs on them and no sumbrella available for the patio table to shield the sun. Also the upstairs neighbor has small balcony above your deck so there is not that much privacy. There is only one AC wall unit in the living room for the entire suite. While kitchen offers ample amenities there is lack of closet or drawer space. The restaurant onsite requires 2 days advance reservation for dinner and 1 day advance reservation for breakfast. It's inconvenient for travelers who want flexibility.
