The lobby, the dining area and the breakfast and dinner buffets are all excellent.
Things went wrong for us when we stepped into the lift. Our first room looked right into a neighbouring building - OK for one night but our stay was four nights. We asked to be moved and were moved to a lovely room on the front of the hotel. As we were unpacking, we were informed that there was building work in the area of our room and we were to be moved again. Our third room was OK, but on the side of the hotel.
We were offered complimentary lounge access with our booking. The lounge is a windowless box. The drinks on offer are limited - no gin, warm white wine. The food mediocre.
On our first day, we were disturbed by drilling noise and construction work. We decided to escape the noise by heading to the pool area - where there was building work on a room by the pool – it was just as noisy.
I did complain and got an upgrade to a half board meal plan, but our expectations of a relaxing stay after a long trip were not met.
That there was building work in the hotel that we were not warned about prior to our arrival.
