The hotel is very clean and cozy. The area is nice - next to giant rocks, the view from the room was incredible. Staff is very helpful. In Tonsai they dont have cars, but hotel has golf cars which car help you to get your luggage to the boat.
The room doesnt have wardrobe or any furniture where to store clothes. But overall it wasnt a big problem, just something "nice to have"

Nice location with beach access. Room was comfortable with a nice balcony view. Comfortable bed. Several restaurants onsite. The breakfast buffet was varied and good. Beach towels were provided.
The bathroom space is tight, so everything does get wet during a shower. Overall nice stay, good value!

The staff and services was impeccable and the rooms where lovely.
It was very isolated, wouldn’t recommend staying for a few days as there isn’t lots to do if you’re on a time crunch. Also avoid the restaurant up the top as I got food poisoning. Avoid.

Such a laid back time here, loved it. Amazing location with lovely rooms which were very spacious and comfortable.
Had 2 nights spare between other locations so decided to extend for another night.
Unreal beach location, and plenty of amazing local food around
Only accessible by boat (which we knew beforehand) but we were unlucky that the tide was out when we arrived, which meant a long tiring walk with our baggage. Totally worth it though
Had breakfast included in our stay, but my partner got food poisoning from there (as did many other people when you look at reviews). Not the hotels fault though.

It will be nice to have also a fan in the room. And small lamp near the bed.

Friendly and genuinely helpful staff, an unique location, interesting food, and an easy-going, welcoming vibe throughout the stay.
noisy air conditioners, could be a bit more of furniture (for longer staying in delux)

Breakfast was fine and close by. Clean and quiet. Spectacular view of cliffs. Thai restaurants close by.
The transfer by boat can be a hassle, in particular if you have luggage. During ebb there's no swim. The beach is not fantatic . There are regular power outages. The place is boring. Fine for a day trip.

What an amazing place , we pulled up in the longtail and were immediately impressed by the quiet beautiful beach surrounded by limestone cliffs .
We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a bungalow - so beautiful and sitting on the terrace , we were treated to so many sights of the incredible wildlife .
Took a walk round the rocks to Ralay and it was lovely but we were glad to get back to our peaceful little haven.
The bar was pretty and fun - food was good , the rock climbers were amazing to watch and the little Reggae bar at the back of the resort was a great little find .
We were there for 3 nights and the only thing that was slightly annoying was the lack of being able to buy a few beers from the store to drink on our balcony tho that was actually the whole point of the place ! Totally out of the mayhem of your usual resorts .

This destination offers a peaceful escape with no mass tourism — it's a laid-back, relaxing place perfect for unwinding.
Breakfast features a wide variety of options and is truly satisfying. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, golf carts are available to transfer you and your luggage to the boat station.
It’s an island, the way to access is by boat. You can ask the boatman to drop you directly in front of the resort. However, a bit of wading through shallow water to reach the shore is common in this area. As it's a tropical country, it’s best to travel light — you will need to carry your luggage on your head when disembarking.
The famous, busy Railay is just a 15-minute hike over a small rocky hill—best done during low tide.
The stunning vistas and the sight of young international climbers showcasing fascinating climbing techniques on the cliffs. Peaceful evening.

I loved Tonsai Beach it was nice and quiet compared to Railay Beach. The staff very kindly gave me an upgrade from a semi detached bungalow to my own bungalow. It looked like it had just been remodeled. It was lovely with my own patio.

When we checked out late because my wife got food poisoning they didn't charge us extra and gave us the room for one more hour so she could rest till the shot they gave her started having effects so she could get on the boat.
The food was badly cooked and probably old meat used since my wife got food poisoning which resulted in a very poor experience and almost 3000 baht to get treatment at the doctor in the facilities. She got sick from the meal "Pad siu senyai beef" and was sick for a week after that which ruined our only time for vacation in a long time. The initial charge for the doctor was almost 15000 baht so we asked for only one shot to help her reduce her symptoms to be able to go on a flight to Bangkok.

beautiful spot. nice room, friendly staff, everything in order
Several people got food poisoning when I was there. Could it have been breakfast buffet? I don't know
Also They give bottles of water daily. Single use plastic very bad. Maybe put water coolers in central locations so people can refill their water containters and help save the planet

Beautiful beaches to swim in. Easy walk to Railey beach in the next cove. Frequent boats. Breakfast was ok. Nice little bar for evening drinks.
Sand wasn't the best we found in Thailand quite gravelly. Coffee was very bad. Thin walls could hear neighbours in the morning. Air con only stayed on with lights. Couldn't turn air con on and light off. So air con was off every night very hot

We loved our stay at this hotel. Everything was clean, well maintained, the beds were comfortable and the staff nice and helpful. We had wonderful breakfasts and dinners and enjoyed everything very much.
On our last evening we went to do the Monkey Bar which was fantastic. Great food, great cocktails!
The hotel is most likely an already older one but they try real hard to modernize and I think they are doing a remarkable job. Unfortunately, swimming is not possible at low tide because the water recedes very far, so to balance that, a pool would be a fantastic addition.
A lot of people went there to go bouldering. Not us though ;-).
I missed the opportunity to go swimming during low tide. It is not something the hotel can do anything about it - it's just something, I missed though ;-).

Great location. Loved the towel elephants on arrival. The staff were so helpful and we loved the buggie rides to and from the boats!
Air conditioning was very good.. we couldn’t change the temperature so maybe worth adjusting.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained and our room was impeccably clean. The room was huge with many amenities including slippers, robe, umbrellas, safe, fridge and coffee facilities. The beach is a one minute walk from our bungalow. The restaurant had an extensive menu with fair prices and everything we ate here was delicious.

Maybe the best location in the Railay Peninsula, definitely the best in Tonsai Bay. The premises are well kept and nicely gardened, the staff are exceeding in friendliness and service. They communicate well and organize transport, the hotel restaurant has the best beachfront setting and the food, while marginally more expensive than the options hidden further back, is well presented and good after a day of climbing. Breakfast buffet is very good value, especially if you are a climber.
The room at the main resort is excellent value. Contrary to reports, we had electricity all day almost every day in two separate one week stays in November. Amazing for a cooling afternoon nap when the conditions are too hot to climb anymore. We were warned that electricity would be down between 3-5pm, but I only noticed this 3 times in 14 days, so I think Tonsai Bay is running its own electricity generation.
We received drinking water every day, the beds were made and room cleaned daily, and fresh towels were always available. Scented liquid soap and shampoo is provided.
The room itself is simple, discrete and clean. The double mattress is firm and seemed quite new, and the sheets were smooth high grade cotton. The bathroom has an electric shower for hot water, a nice looking sink, new toilet and its own ventilation. I’ve stayed all over Railay and for the price, this set up is great value and very comfortable.
Lastly, if you are a climber, at the doorstep of the resort is the Rock Shop whose owner writes the Thailand guide for rock climbing. He currently has the most comprehensive gear rental on the peninsular, and definitely the best local knowledge on routes which he is happy to share. There is a shop adjacent where you can buy large 6L bottles of water and do laundry. The popular climber’s bar under the Tonsai Roof is a short walk around the corner and thankfully out of ear shot, so sleeping at Tonsai Bay Resort was always deep and quiet.
Not something I didn’t like, just something to be aware of:
You need to arrange your arrival and departure by longtail boat carefully. Give yourself margin for error especially if leaving to the airport.
To arrive, it is only a ten minute longtail boat ride from the main Ao Nang boat station. Just tell them you are going to Tonsai Bay.
If you get dropped off on Railay Beach West for some reason, it is a 20 minute walk down the beach, over the peninsula trail, and then up Tonsai Beach to the resort.
To leave, boats need 6 people to depart. You can let the resort staff know in advance and they help to put together a boat with enough people to leave at a specific time. Alternatively, you go to the boat station at the far end of Tonsai beach and wait there until enough people show up to depart - both locals and visitors need to go to Ao Nang every day. Getting there by 8am gives the best probability for a short wait (15-20 minutes). Most people are leaving by 10am. After that, you can pay for a whole boat (it seems to make sense if you are a group of 4+).
If you want to increase your probability of certain departure outside the early morning period, it is best to walk over to Railay Beach West, where the main bulk of boats to Ao Nang depart. Boats need 8 people to leave, and this happens very quickly from 8am onwards all day until 6pm. Average waiting time is probably 10 minutes.

Very nice and quiet place. You can relax there without millions of people. Staff are very helpful. They can organise transfer from and to airport. Towels were changed every day.

We loved the peace and quiet away from the main tourist area. The location was amazing with the beach front views. The staff were friendly, lovely and very helpful. Their big smiles as we arrived was a beautiful welcome. The rooms were extremely clean. The air conditioner was a blessing in the evening. We did not need the air conditioner in the rooms during the day as we were out all day. It is better they save on electricity and help the environment.
The restaurant was on the pricey side but it was worth it for the idyllic scenery. We enjoyed watching a storm roll across the islands out at sea.
There is confusion, even with local taxi drivers, where to take the ferry/boat. It is best to take the boat from Ao Nang Beach and NOT Ao Nam Mao Beach. Let Tonsai Beach Resort staff know your arrival time and they will meet you at the beach to take your luggage. This saves walking along the beach with heavy luggage.

Location fantastic. Staff were great. Rock climbing, or just chilling out at the beach bar right next door.
Activities if you want or relax.
This is not a high end place, but the price reflects that. If you want a soft bed maybe look elsewhere or ask if they can do a soft top on the matress. Thai beds are generally hard compared to Western.
Note: Electricity is generated, so not 24 hrs. but all night for the aircon.

With 90% of the rooms being renovated you can see the potential of the property. Our duplex bungalow was spacious with lots of bench and storage space. The bed was comfortable and the linen good. We had beach and room towels and they gave us extra pillows promptly on request.
Unfortunately the shower was a shocker - we think it was built up with calcium, so random sprays came our everywhere back mostly on the back wall, it was hard to use.
The mini mart where you can get washing done is randomly managed; so trying to catch the young guy there was a mission. On collections he tried to over me 250 tb as opposed to 160 - very odd chap.
Also note that the property runs on a generator so power is switched off over two parts of the day, so it pays to plan around these times.

the villa was rather shabby but exceptionally clean. the beach is very quiet, it is a perfect get-away location

The location is good.
The bathrooms really need attention. It is not very clean. It’s too expensive for an outdated resort. I changed room to get a better bathroom but it was still not clean and grubby. There are better options on Tonsai for half the price. Breakfast is very disappointing too.

Resort was well kept rooms and grounds. Stunning location with a rock face nx to the Bar. It's peaceful and relaxed atmosphere makes it the only place I'd stay in Krabi..the hotel food was good and the cocktail bar right on the beach made this an exceptional choice.
Our villa was cleaned everyday and the AC was working well..
We had breakfast with the room which was simple eggs and toast.
Quaint village behind the resort for cheap food, a few local bars, climbing schools and thai massage.
20m walk to Railay if you prefer more action.
It's a gem of a place 100% recommended.
Nothing at all.

Exceptional customer service! We left a power adaptor in our room and the staff arranged to post it to us at our next hotel in Bangkok. We needed this adaptor to run a medical device, so we were really appreciative that they went to these efforts - we assume someone had to take it by boat to a post office in Ao Nang! They took it on good faith that we would transfer the postage money to them after receiving the package (which we did of course!) We were so impressed and grateful for their help. Thank you!!!

Beautiful location. Lovely spacious bungalow with comfortable bed and shower with hot shower and gorgeous views over the cliffs.
Hotel restaurant located right on the beach.
Reception staff, particularly Ms Wee, was very helpful and facilitated my pickup and dropoff by golfcart at the longboat pickup location on the beach.
