Pension Hönel-Hof Bad Schandau

The owner was wonderful, kindly showed us around the Pension. Showed us the garden area we could sit in and enjoy a beer. The room was wonderful, clean, spacious and well equipped. Secure location in a locked garage for our bikes. We had such a fabulous peaceful sleep here. The Pension is fabulous, would stay there every time in Bad Schandau

The host is very nice, although I don’t speak much German I can tell that the host, André is trying to help me as much as he can understand.

It’s a very beautiful place and I can tell the owner put a lot of effort into making it. He must be a great gardener as it full of beautiful flowers and vegetables and the garden is very inviting for the guests to want to spend time overlooking the eibe river. André also suggested many local restaurants nearby with good value for money. Therefore i didn’t need to cook much while staying here, although if you wish to there are facilities that enable you to do that. I stayed here for a week to do malerweg track and surrounding areas. One thing i would recommend is to check bus or train timetable if you are using them.

The backyard was very nice. The bedrooms were big and the kitchen was very well equipped but there's a mini fridge so very little space. The cleaning lady was very nice.

We left a day early because of the manager's attitude. He was angry that we requested to change the towels every day, and at some point, he looked through the window and told us not to put them on the closet. We felt like we didn't have privacy because of that. ​I think it would have been much nicer if he had simply set expectations in advance—like asking us to wash them ourselves, or suggesting to change them every other day. ​Additionally, the train passes right next to the apartment, and there was no air conditioning. We also didn't like the "lottery" offering a chance to win a weekend at the pension in exchange for rating the place a 10.
