Carlisle House Bed and Breakfast

The location was great. It was walking distance to the Historic Downtown and several restaurants.

I loved the fact that this was an old Civil War era home and that’s why I chose it. I love old. However, the room I stayed in could have been a little cleaner. I could not see out the windows because they were so dirty. The bed/dressers need to be pulled out every now and again and cleaned behind them. When we were looking for a plug we found several items other guests left behind. Also, there is a staff shortage so there is no breakfast on non-weekends. The front door is permanently locked so you have to go down an alley and use a code to let you in the back door.

Our stay was very comfortable. We had multiple family members traveling together, so the two bedrooms and bathrooms offered privacy, and the sitting room allowed us to gather together at the end of the day...much nicer than having two separate hotel rooms. There were full size sodas and water in the fridge and plenty of coffee pods for each morning. We really enjoyed the breakfast offered in the morning. It was a lovely room, with a variety of homemade breakfast options. People chatted with each other and it was a lovely way to start the day.

It was an older building, so we understood there were some limitations. Our room faced the street and many large trucks could be heard loudly through the old glass windows. The blinds had seen better days and were difficult to raise and lower. We wished the tv was a bit bigger, and the wifi connection kept dropping out so it was a challenge to try to watch tv in the evening. One of the showers was wonderful, but the other was hard for my father to get hot water (it may have been human error).

Honestly everything, this place felt like home in all the warm and comfortable ways.

Advertised as bed and breakfast and it isn’t. There was a coffee maker in room but no refills on coffee or condiments. No staff on the premises, no housekeeping staff.
