We stayed in the Eco Cabin. It was very cosy, clean and has everything you need. A great base for the national park (feels secluded but is not too far from things). Highly recommend.

To call this place unique would be a massive understatement. We travel a lot but have never had an opportunity to stay at a totally "off the grid" rental house. The lodge is completely dependent on solar power and uses rainwater as the water source, but is expertly and cleverly designed to provide maximum comfort and luxury. The land the lodge sits on is carved out of the rain forest off a lightly used gravel road several miles east of Volcano and, as such, completely isolated from other buildings, roads and humanity of any kind. The lodge was very clean, well equipped and (my favorite) quiet, although the frogs make themselves known most of the night (but we slept well because of the soundproofing and comfortable king bed). Wifi was fast and dependable and there was a decent cell signal. There was a propane heater, which we did not use. The large Samsung TV was configured to provide lots of viewing options. Communications with the nice hosts were great.
I struggled to decide on a rating for this review, and waffled between a 9 and 10. We loved the isolation, quiet and uniqueness of the facility. However, we missed a few amenities that we are used to in a rental place. These include a microwave, toaster, oven, full size refrigerator, and coffee pot (they did have a French press, which we used), which were not available because of the total dependence on solar power. However, our hats are off to the owners, who have created a top-notch "off the grid" experience.

Really enjoyed the feel of being forest. We did bring some good ear plugs so the croaky frogs didn’t get to us.
Love the rugged feel and the jungle being in the jungle and just totally being able to relax no other no other things going on just

A cabin in the fern forest, we were placed in the Oasis one- it was a relaxing and restorative. The outdoor kitchen, the hammock, the surroundings were like being in paradise. The sounds of the jungle were so other worldly. We were very impressed. The location is quite remote and the roads to get there were pretty rough. We had rented a 4WD so it was no problem, but I suggest having at least an AWD vehicle to make it comfortable to reach it.
The bed was a little too soft for my liking. Staff is not responsive. The check in and check out times were listed differently on this platform than what was listed in the book on site. When I contacted the hosts to ask if we could stay a bit longer on the check out day, they didn't bother answering me, which was regrettable. I still haven't gotten any response from them and it's been several weeks since I stayed there. I guess since we left, they see no reason to. .

Very private and serene. Practiced sustainability with solar power and filtered rain water. Very clean and Good Wi-Fi! Owners communicated well and frequently, making our stay enjoyable.
Was a bit farther from Volcanos NP and the town area than anticipated, probably because of the long dirt roads at night. But I realize the location is the point of the Eco-Cabin. Missed having access to ice.

Close to the national park and Hilo. Very serene. Very comfy and cute.
Shower pressure was very low, but a minor detail compared to the benefits.

It is well kept, very clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was firm. Great views from the lanai.
It was quite a ways in from the main road. There was about 1 mile of unpaved road. And we had to get out of the car to open and close the gate to the property.

Close drive to Volcanoes National Park.
On gravel roads and locals get peeved off if you go too slow. The coqui frogs are annoying. The hot water is inconsistent when showering.

We loved our stay at the cabin. It's really well equipped and the communication with the owners was exceptionnal.
It's only something like a 10 minutes drive to the Volcano Park so great location.
A little pricey for what it is, a problem we had though almost everywhere in Hawaii.

We stayed in the lodge. It was very pleasant and new. The grounds were lovely and had many fruit trees growing around. The amenities were awesome. Everything we needed was available. They even included some food items as the location is distant from shopping.

Location is something special, in a real forest, among trees and birds of any kinds. It’s really a bit magic. Owners very friendly. Got some fresh brewed coffee in the morning which was available in the house.
Only issue… I could not stay more ….

It feels you are in a secluded place and then everything inside is cozy and comfortable. You are made to feel very welcome and then you have ‘ your own little place’ in the fern forest to relax
We liked everything about the property.
There is now and then a little bit of background noise from faraway neighbors but most of the time very tranquil.
