Achillion Palace Hotel Rethymno City Center

Nice hotel with top roof pool. International mixt cohort, more on the pension side, which may prove challenging sometimes at the pool, if you travel with kids (as we did). Not a biggie though. The place is like a 5-min walk away from the closest beach, but much closer to shops and restaurants. No parking is available exclusively for the hotel, but it is free to park on the streets (as long as you can squeeze your car in as one gets out). Breakfast is buffet style, nice variety, yet little variation from one day to another during our 7-night stay. Every member of the staff did their best to make our stay perfect and we are thankful to everyone. Big hugs and thanks to Erica, who was very nice to us and the kids. Coffee (in Greece and at this hotel as well) is absolutely horrendous (which I knew about so I brought my own from home).

The hotel is in a great location only a few minutes walk to the Old Town which offers great shops, bars and restaurants. We stayed for 10 nights and all meals in the old town were fabulous and good value. The roof pool is great, and the breakfast offers something for everybody. Our room was comfortable with a lovely view over the garden. The ladies who clean the rooms everyday were so happy and friendly and made our room so lovely for when we returned at the end of the day. A fridge in the room was great, and the air con worked perfectly. At this hotel the staff are absolutely fabulous, so friendly, helpful, happy and very hospitable and that made our stay even better… the breakfast girls who also looked after the roof pool/bar. A special mention for the lovely .. Erofili Silia Euaggelia Erica Also the reception team, who were always so helpful and friendly especially Costas, who my husband enjoyed a chat with whilst waiting for us to get ready of an evening! Thank you for our wonderful, happy family holiday ! I would highly recommend you choose to stay!

My only comment would be that the bathrooms need a bit of modernising, but with that said everything else far outweighed that for us.

The staff was excellent, big thanks to Poppy at reception, she is such a gem! We felt truly welcomed and had the best time! I was having my birthday, so the hotel gifted us a delicious chocolate cake, such a nice gesture, thank you so much! The location was perfect, close to the beach and to city center, somewhere in between! The facilities and the mattresses were comfortable, a lot of space in the room and in the bathroom to put make-up and skin care! The breakfast was continental, tasty omelette by the way, maybe would prefer some more fruits and a salad with lettuce, but still very good!

Nice lady working in the reception. Good location, pretty quiet street. Sunbeds and pool on the roof. Decent breakfast (if you arrive early enough). Cute garden.

Blood on the mirror when we checked in, cleaning was generally subpar. Cleaning staff randomly entered the room to deliver a welcome note on day 2. Luckily everyone in the room were fully dressed and awake. Very uncomfortable shower, horrible water pressure and awkward positioning of the shower head. Hard beds. Dark room. Corridor smelled like garbage. Only one tiny elevator in the hotel. Asked for a quiet room, but was given what was probably one of the nosiest rooms in the hotel. Was awoken many times by furniture being dragged across the floor on the roof before 8 am, as well as by noise from cleaning staff in the morning. Moisture issues in the room.
