Crab Shack

The location was great, nice ocean view from bedroom and the living room space. Close beach access, off street parking. Close to the local grocery store which carries Netarts Bay oysters and has deli with Indian food. It was clean, it has all the basic kitchen supplies and working appliances including washer and dryer. It has good internet so I was able to use the place for work.

This is an older cabin which hasn't been renovated in sometime, so the walls are scuffed, the carpet is worn, the bed squeaks ( though the mattress and bedding are good), it has a musty smell when you first get there and when it has been closed up all day, the flapper on the toilet needs replaced so if not careful with handle it runs after being flushed. The musty is probably from the mold in the french door glides and I saw some discoloration on some baseboards. The Ikea type chair has lost its bottom and someone made a fix with cording, which works but i doubt it is comfortable enough for long periods reading or ocean watching. The recliner is somewhat sprung in the footrest and the bottom cushion, so again, not long term comfortable.

The views

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the amazing view of the bay from the back bedroom. That alone was worth the trip. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by several problems. The interior is very dated and in need of modernization. We found electrical outlets that weren't functional. Most frustrating was a 3-hour delay at check-in because the property manager could not find our reservation. This property has a fantastic foundation and could be packed year-round with new management, some investment in updates, and a focus on reliability. For now, I think the value isn't quite there, and I would opt to stay at Pacific City next time for a smoother experience.

Location was great.

Kitchen items could be updated. A trip to the Goodwill to purchase cooking/eating supplies would be helpful. There were only 2 forks for eating. The pots and pans, and knifes were dismal.
