Carlton Arms Hotel

First of all, the best thing about this hotel is the location, which is excellent. Safe area in Midtown Manhattan, many metro stations nearby and all the tourist attractions are easily reachable. Secondly, the staff was very helpful. We booked a room with shared bathroom, but we received a free upgrade when we checked in there and we got a private bathroom - that was very kind.

The city is very noisy through the night too and sometimes it felt like we were outside even though the window was closed. We used some earplugs for sleeping. We had a plumbing issue in the toilet one morning. They gave us another room and we had to switch rooms so that the problem could be fixed.

Staff excellent.

Sheets on bed were quite slippery, maybe not cotton. But understandable

I booked the hotel rather last minute for my daughter who was coming into town to see a Broadway show. I mistakenly booked it for the following year!! I spoke with the hotel on the day of, then they called back to clarify the mistake, they were booked solid but were able to put them up anyways, over and above for this nervous mom! I cannot say enough about how kind and accommodating they were to this unique but fraught situation!

Location and price

It felt very much like a hostel, not a hotel. The rooms were clean and basic. The staff were okay but not overly friendly. The cat was more friendly.
